[MEL] Garage sale part one - lots of vintage stuff

Postby kevinwulf » Mon Aug 19, 2013 11:07 pm

Item: Campagnolo Paris Roubaix shifter and hubs (with box!)
Additional: Only made for a couple of years (1950-53) and in small numbers this is a rare piece of kit. And I’ve only ever seen one other that had the box. Sale includes: The shifter, box, front and rear hubs, seatstay clamp, AND I’ll throw in a four speed freewheel (Everest or Regina), a period-correct spoke protector, and A frame that has the dropouts with teeth required to use the shifter.

Condition: The box is pretty shagged, faded, split seams, etc but it’s there.
The shifter and hubs are in great condition, chrome is excellent!.
The frame is pretty crappy and had a bad paintjob at one point. I’d recommend cutting the dropouts out and using them in a different frame. The dropouts aren’t in amazing condition but they have life left in them and are usable.

Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows. Will post. But would prefer local pickup. Also, I can let you ride another bike with a Paris Roubaix shifter and show you how to use it.
Price: $1100 + postage

Item: Campagnolo Cambio Corsa shifter and hubs (mid 40s version). Very rare to find these in Australia.

Item condition: the bad news is that the races on both hubs and cones are pretty shagged. Not heavily brinnelled but kinda rusty, they’ll never be super smooth. The good news is that you can use almost any FB or Campagnolo hubs and cones from the 40s through to the 80s and have a functional unit. The rare parts are here (the shifters, the axle, the dog bone skewer ends (these can sell for a couple hundred dollars each! And are very hard to find!). Chrome isn’t great but would be good candidates for a bike with patina or to get rechromed.

Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows. Will post. But would prefer local pickup. Also, I can let you ride another bike with a Cambio Corsa shifter and show you how to use it.

Oh, and the little wire tab that holds the QR stick has its fancy handle broken off. It still does its job of holding the handle but it’s not as nice to use when putting a wheel in/out of a frame. Here’s a photo of the damaged one.
This is what it should look like.

Item: Cyclo derailleur. Clamp on model, with shifter, cable, etc
Condition: NOS, never been mounted. For an extra $10 you can have the original box too.

Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows. Will post.
Price: $100 + postage

Item: Wheelset.
Rear - Sturmey Archer K5 3 speed hub (1935) with Sturmey Archer wingnuts, 40 hole, Sun CR18 rim, DT double butted spokes
Front – Airlite high flange (from the 40s or 50s) with wingnuts, 32 hole, Sun CR18 rim, DT double butted spokes.
Also, Sturmey Archer quadrant shifter and cable (period-correct for the Sturmey hub)

Item Condition: Excellent! The Sturmey hub was professionally rebuilt in England just before it got to me and I’ve only used it to go around the block once or twice. These are rare enough in any condition but this is really exceptional. Both wheels are nice and true and have barely been used (I decided to go with a Vittoria Margherita shifter on the bike instead).
Okay, the wheels aren’t period-correct or anything but they are super-functional and would make a great everyday wheelset for a vintage bike.

Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows. Will post.
Price: $400 + postage

Item: White Industries MTB crankset 170mm, 94/58bcd with 42, 32, 20 rings.
Item condition: Good used condition. Perfectly functional, or you could polish the dickens out of them for a show bike or something. Rings have some wear but don’t need replacing right away or anything.
Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows specifically. Happy to post.
Price: $80 + postage
Payment options: Paypal, direct debit, cash, etc
Contact details: PM

Item: TA crankarms x 2 sets. Both English threaded, 170mm.
Item condition: Both in good used condition, threads are fine, everything works. One set has lost its stickers but it has the chainring mounting bolts. Other set has stickers, no bolts.
Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows specifically. Happy to post.
Price: $45 each + postage
Payment options: Paypal, direct debit, cash, etc
Contact details: PM

Item: BSA crankarms (1930s vintage, I think). 165mm long, flutes on front and rear. These are really very rare.
Item condition: Excellent. I had these nickel plated and they’ve only travelled about 50km since then. Unfortunately the plater polished the logos (in spite my insisting he leave them alone!) so they are very faded. If you look closely, they are still there. That really annoyed me…
Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows specifically. Happy to post.
Price: $130 + postage
Payment options: Paypal, direct debit, cash, etc
Contact details: PM

Item: Gnutti crankset, 170mm, 48t ring. Nice Italian combo for bikes from the mid 30s to mid 50s.
Item condition: Everything works fine but there is plenty of patina. Rechrome or leave as is.
Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows specifically. Happy to post.
Price: $80 + postage
Payment options: Paypal, direct debit, cash, etc
Contact details: PM

Item: Magistroni crankset, 165mm, single flutes, 50t ring.
Item condition: I had these rechromed and they’ve done about 50km since then. So condition is excellent.
Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows specifically. Happy to post.
Price: $120 + postage
Payment options: Paypal, direct debit, cash, etc

Item: Magistroni crankarms, 170mm, single flutes (late 40s, early 50s). Stonglight crankarms 170mm (early 50s)
Item condition: Magistroni arms have had about 50km put on them since rechroming. Condition is excellent.
Original chrome on the Stronglight arms is very, very good. Nice set indeed!
Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows specifically. Happy to post.
Price: $80 each + postage
Payment options: Paypal, direct debit, cash, etc

Item: Magistroni crankarms (1940s) 165mm
Item condition: plating is history, lots of surface rust from my 2yo filling a parts bin with water. The rust will come off easily but I haven’t got the time or inclination.
Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows specifically. Happy to post.
Price: $25 + postage
Payment options: Paypal, direct debit, cash, etc

Item: Magistroni city bike crankset (non removable chainring), 165mm, 46t

Item: 105 groupset. All the bits pictured (I do have the second brake lever, I just forgot to put it in the photo). 7spd era
Item condition: Pretty tatty, everything seems to function ok though. A couple of bolts are missing on the brake calipers and one of the brake lever clamps is missing. But all in all, it’s okay for cheap.
Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows specifically. Happy to post.
Price: $45 + postage
Payment options: Paypal, direct debit, cash, etc

Item: Sora 8spd brifters, and some low-end Shimano rear derailleurs (Alivio and STX from memory).

Item: Campagnolo Gran Sport hubshells from the 50s. 40/32 hole, high flange.
Item condition: NOS. I believe they took a bunch of these unsold hubs (that were destined for the UK and stripped them of their internals for spare parts for the Italian market. Anyway, they’re in Australia now.
Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows. Happy to post.
Price: $60 + postage
Payment: Paypal, direct debit, cash, etc

Item: Exceltoo competition hubs (French brand). 36 hole front and rear, French threaded with a French threaded 6spd freewheel
Item condition: Pretty good. They did look immaculate until my 2yo immersed them in water. They still seem to spin okay but I couldn’t be bothered opening them up and checking them out. Rust should come off easily but again, I just can’t be bothered.
Location: Melbourne. Brunswick or Broadmeadows. Happy to post.

Hey mate, interested in the 105 groupset. What bolts in particular are missing from the brake calipers?

Also, could I get a postage estimate to 2208 (Sydney)?

I can't remember off the top of my head with bits are missing. I'll check tomorrow.

I'll guess postage at $14, with the recent price increases. I'll wear any extra cost if there is any.

Dibs noted. Thanks!

Regarding the 105 brakes, no bolts are missing. I must have just been thinking about the missing lever clamp (or the missing brake pads). Anyway, all there. The springs and some bolts are a bit rusty but hey, they're cheap.
