[PER] - Free! Pickup Only - Assorted Surplus frames.

Postby HappyHumber » Thu May 08, 2014 10:00 pm

Ok the Redbacks have gone dormant in the shed for the winter, and I've decided to thin out some stuff.

No dibs. First in, best dressed. Assuming of course there is at least some interest!
I am located near Cannington, S.o.R. Contact me for mobile via PM. I don't consider TXTs serious enquiries and ignore them. I've had too much agro out of Gumtree with 'em in the past. :)

Each pic clicks through to an imgur gallery. High res copies of each image there.

Item: Frame #1 Black Mixte. Fresh powdercoat
Price: Free! Though since it owes me for the p/c. A cheap bottle of Pinot Noir could sweeten its departure.
Postage Available: Nah.
Details: ~55cm square, insofar as my dodgy measuring allows for a step through. Nothing special construction or tubing wise. I think it was a Healing in its previous life. 27" wheels originally. Powder coat is still quite glossy; just dusty in this picture. Could probably do with threads chasing & facing before build up.

---
Item: Frame #2 Generic Chrome SS/FG Frame.
Price: Free.
Postage Available: Nein.
Details: A generic fixie fad era frame. 54.5cm ST 56cm TT. 120mm rear spacing. Cheap chrome, beginning to lightly speckle with rust. Would clean up OK and be kept in check with a waxing or light rub of WD40 every so often. Includes BB, which seems to spin well enough. Remnants of the 1 1/8" headset.

Image

---
Item: Frame #3 Blue Fade Tange Infinity
Price: Free.
Postage Available: Nope
Details: 57cm sq. Unbranded, but nicely enough finished Japanese frame. Probably early 80s with above BB cable guides. Stuck alloy seatpost. TT Cable guides pretty messy, as shown. Pretty sure it was 700c when I stripped it.

---
Item: Frame #4 Raleigh Pioneer, 700c Hybrid.
Price: Free
Postage Available: No.
Details: 58cm sq. 126mm rear end spacing. Cantilever bosses and built for 700c wheels. Clearance upto high 30s in tyres I'd say. Includes 1" headset. Nothing special tubing wise. Not recommended to stub toe on. Won't dent easily if you choose to though.

Image

---
Item: Frame #5 Raleigh "RS-1500" 90s rigid MTB (26" wheel)
Price: Free
Postage Available: Nup.
Details: 54cm ST, 59.5cm TT(!) 130mm rear spacing Suspect this is NOS and never been built up. Paint in lovely nick for the age (note sticker on head badge!). Bit heavy being 1020 tubing. Bullet proof runabout or commuter. Cockroaches will live in this after nuclear armageddon - just you wait.

Image

---
Item: Frames #6 & #7 Small, Baby blue MTBs.
Price: 2 for the price of None! These go together, sorry.
Postage Available: Nicht
Details: 2 small later 90s era MTBs I'd say. Branding unsure. Frame #6 (pictured with fork) is steel. 51cm ST, 57.5 TT vertical dropouts with 135mm spacing. Frame #7 is Aluminium; 48cm ST, 55.5cc TT, 135mm spacing. Fresh paint on both; never built up since painted.

Single fork supplied with these is Cro-Mo (stickered Giant) Not painted per the frames - but fits both. If I were building either of these up, I'd probably use the steelie first.

Image

Image

---
Item: Frame #8 mid 70s Raleigh Gran Prix
Price: Free.
Postage Available: Negatory.
Details: 57.5 TT 58.0 ST '76 or '77. Nothing special tubing wise, but some nice little period details like the wrap around seat stays and shark finned lugs seen on Raleigh & umbrella brands around the time. Certainly have felt heavier bikes for the size. Stuck alloy seat post & stem. I was able to get out the offside BB cup with minimal fuss, but the token effort I gave the drive-side one was unsuccessful.

Would still make a smart looking bike with the right sort of time & attention.

Well, I've had a steady stream of queries later last night and this morning. I'm going to have to enforce my comment above.
Please forgive me if I forget who has enquired about which frame. Otherwise, 'All is fair in Love & Free Classifieds'.

I'll admit I've probably timed this posting badly, as I'm actually away this weekend from earlier this evening until later on Sunday (Mothers day 'n all). I have and will respond to all PMs with my mobile phone number and actual suburb. I'd suggest you only phone me if you're ready to pop over at short notice, and I'll give you my exact address then. Especially if someone has someone has beaten you to the frame you're after, it'll save you the trip. If you're able to get to me today before 17:30/18:00 today great... otherwise, you'll have to wait until later on Sunday.

Thanks...

The little blue twins are gone.
Cheers Niall.

Maybe I shoulda emphasised the Purple & White Raleigh is 700c with pretty good clearances. Would suit budget (bodgie?) Cyclo-cross/gravel grinder build for some of that quasi-offroad stuff that's popular with all the cool kids these days. :)

Thanks David. Enjoy!

6 down 2 to go.... The Purple & White Raileigh, and the old Blue 70s Raleigh.

Purple and white Raleigh is the coolest of the bunch IMO! Would have popped over already if I wasn't risking my life in the process of bringing it home!

Righteeo... bump time.

Old Raleigh is withdrawn from offer. (Curse you 5antos for telling me about your build on such a frame!)

Newer Purple & White Raleigh is still available. I honestly thought this might've been the first to go. If it was 2cm bigger I would keep it as a basher for myself.

Also have ~54cm early 90s Aluminium Trek 1200 roadie frame that I just need to photograph and confirm measurements of.

Shame you moved back to Sydney then I guess, eh HLC? ;)

What is the matter with this city.... no one wants this frame? We've even had a bit of rain thus far this winter. There is green stuff out in the paddocks & bush. Dust has become.... wait for it... mud!

Hi All,

I was the one who picked up both the Raleigh and the Trek.
Unfortunately something has come up and I am not unable to finish building up these frames.
Would like to pass these onto someone else who wishes to build them up.
I have started removing the rust from the frame of the Raleigh, so paint has obviously been removed from some areas.
PM if interested.

Kind regards,
Wei

The Trek frame was a early 90s 1200 'Aluminum' frame, with a cro-mo fork. Almost iridescently bright yellow.

Sorry I don't have original pics to repost guys... but happy that Wei has offered to pass them on in turn.
