(BNE) Campagnolo silver Record hubs laced to Mavic Open Pro.

Postby Causidicus » Thu Jun 12, 2014 6:26 pm

This is a brand new build that has been used for about 3-5 hours to verify the build and settle any spokes.

The hubs are extremely difficult to find silver alloy oversize axle 32H Campagnolo Record hubs that are now made of a rare isotope of unobtanium, yet all parts are available. The rest of the build:

New 2014 Mavic silver Open Pro rims front and rear.
New 2014 DT Swiss silver Competition double butted spokes 3X front and rear.
New 2014 DT Swiss silver brass nipples front and rear.
New 2014 HB-RE100 bearing kits front and rear.
New HB-RE102 grease/oil port clips.
Laced 3X front and rear
FH-BO001 rear axle
FH-BO015 freehub.

You can change to 8/9/10/11s Shimano/SRAM in minutes as I have upgraded the rear hub with the newer FH-BO001 axle and FH-BO015 one piece freehub. I can also supply a brand new, never used, 8/9/10/11 HG freehub (FH-BUU015X1) for Shimano/SRAM as an addition.

Ready to ride. Matching silver Campagnolo Record internal cam skewers are included. These eat any lightweight titanium skewers for breakfast.

Both hubs have been properly serviced. The HB-RE100 kits comprise new cups, cones, balls and seals. Go look up their price and multiply by 2 (ouch). There is no servicing required. Receive and ride. Simple. Just like any new wheelset.

Currently running a Campagnolo freehub. 9/10/11 compatible. This can be changed to 8/9/10/11s Shimano freehub easily (no redishing required. A 5 minute job).

These hubs have proper cup and cone bearings. If you think plain cartridge bearings are the best choice for wheels, ask yourself if there just might be a reason why Campagnolo and Shimano use only cup and cone on their higher end wheelsets and have steadfastly done so for decades. To make things easy, the adjustment system on oversize axle Campagnolo hubs makes Shimano's system look archaic. No cone spanners are needed...

Being all silver they are perfect for the retro/classic build and being 32H perfect for the Clydesdale, the commuter (think of loaded panniers front and rear), the rough roads rider (think of cobbles), the tourer, the CX rider or the person that simply wants bulletproof, easily maintainable and serviceable wheels that will outlast themselves. For the modern rider, they look outstanding on a dark all carbon build. Really, they do.

Wheelset includes rim tape, 2 Vittoria Open Corsa SC 23mm, 3 x Vittoria LV51 latex tubes and, as mentioned, the skewers. Basically, a new wheelset far better, far stronger and definitely more classy than what you can buy new.

Looks like this is a different set as the earlier set had black rims. See: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=71300&p=1070829#p1070829
