40 hole! Not many are likely to have such a rim lying around, but I reckon you'll be able to get many of the Velocity rims drilled to 40 hole specification if you ask them nicely.

Cheers,
Graeme

(Why 40 holes?)

thanks Graeme, yeah it's an old hub... was looking at the velocity ones, however I'm not sure I want to have to buy new rims for this wheel build (as it will be my first), and thought it worth a try to see if anyone has one.

Don't like your chances... Tubular: yes, clincher rims: no. Clinchers weren't really around when 40 hole hubs were in vogue, at least not in lightweight parts that you'd want to ride these days, or that anyone would have bothered to keep around for this long.

you can lace a 40h hub to a 36h rim. Sheldon knows, his example is 36/28 but it should be similar calculations for a 40/36 mismatch

I'm pretty sure Velocity had an odd 40h Deep V along with a 30h in their email to dealers the other day.

Thanks all, ended up guying a Velocity rear.. the hub is turning a bit smoother than I initially thought.

Got them from LBS, only about $35 more than buying from the USA.
