Trek 1000 is now a Trek 1.2
Sora groupset, maybe 16 speed, can't remember.
about $1000 new say 5 years ago.
that should give you an idea.

a friend of mine just got the Trek 1.2 w rear Sora and front 2200. paid 700 bucks for it.

give them a call & ask them to look for a frame size for you, saved me a trip at the last event. there is a catalogue available online now.

pity, i don't know their policy re test rides. previously I've been allowed to sit on the bikes to get a feel for size and also run through the gears holding the back wheel of the bike up, check brakes etc.

from their point of view there would be liability issues, especially as an example they are not a bike shop so don't have helmets to supply for a test ride. many of their buyers are just resellers who don't care too much about size or operation too much, just whether they can turn a profit (keep a lookout on ebay for it!).

i bought a small mountain bike there last year, was in excellent condition, the original water bottle was unused, i think the bike may have been stolen from the bike shop. fortunately the bike i bought was about lot 3 or 5 so i didn't have to hang around too much. i noticed the bike you were after was into the late hundreds, would be quite a drag to wait around for it.
