WTB - Shimano shifters or groupset SORTED!!

Hi, my old 8 speed shifters are intermittently faulty. When they are pressed there is sometimes no engagement click and the gears don't shift. The bikeshop says that these Shimano shifters are not repairable.

So, I would like some shifters, or even a whole groupset of more modern type (9 or 10 speed) Shimano ultegra or 105 (even dura ace hehe).

SB, can't help with items for sale, but have you tried some remedial attention?

The bike shop is largely correct; STIs are not repairable and when they die they tend to stay dead, but a good few can be resurrected by flushing them out severely with WD40 (the spray straw is invaluable) then relubing them. They may regain functionality.

PS: some idiots say you can pull them apart to service, but I strongly recommend not doing so. You'' end up with more parts than you began, they won't work and your carpet will have little springs and washers in it for months.

they died after not being used for a while, I think some dust is in them. However, they are now what, 12 years old? They have been sprayed out at the bike shop, and still give Karen the Showtime$ so I am guessing they are kaput.

You can definitely put 9 speed stuff on the hub.
