Nice bike greeny23, you'd be spinning out down hills with that gear ratio though?
I had a Globe Roll 01 - not a bad ride, although the bottom bracket was quite low, resulting in frequent pedal strike. Also the wheelset was shite so I replaced. Since sold the bike.

Using it as an urban assault vehicle, on the cheap.
Salvaged a very nice Deore XT groupset from the mid 90's, polished it up, and then promptly ditched most of the parts to make a single speed...
Never been a fan of gears.
Components left:
Giant Upland frame/Mosso Fork
Shimano Deore XT Wheelset(Araya Rims)
Deore XT cranks, 46T.
Deore XT rear derailleur (Worlds most expensive chain tensioner...)
Deore XT cantilever front brake (Tektro BMX lever due to XT brake/shifter being a single piece)
Cane Creek C1 Headset (Scott top cap due to vanity)
Scott handgrips (Just so every one knows it's mine...)
KMC red freestyle chain.
Since this is my second post... Not sure the image link above will work.

On the Langster or the Globe? Haven't noticed on either really.Moe wrote:Nice bike greeny23, you'd be spinning out down hills with that gear ratio though?

Mine's a globe 2. plan on throwing some flat bars, new saddle and later some new wheels on it but at the moment it still seems like a solid bike.

Since you are running single speed I would recommend a rear brake on there too mate. I use my front 90% of the time but there is that 10% where you need to brake in a hurry and don't want to launch yourself over the bars. Otherwise, cool ride!Scott1e wrote:My latest toy:

Apologies...but I just love the look. Our young fella made my heart burst when he came in as I was putting the chain on and said "Pretty bike?"

Naaaaaaww.. you should get some pics with him riding on it to save for his 21st. Start 'em young I reckon. Kids should be able to swim and cycle even before they can walk.ghostpoet wrote:Apologies...but I just love the look. my dads old Raleigh, found it in the garage, he bought it back in 70's and it hadn't been touched in about 20-30 years. spent $190 odd bucks and it came up a treat.

something wrong with the back tyre in that shot!!!! It's bulging off the rim at the rear.
Anyway, classic frame and paintjob is that. Sort the bars angle and tape them, and even consider a modern saddle and seatpost.

Thanks Pete, it is very bright, the picture doesn't really do the brightness justice!PeteV wrote:Looks good, very bright lol. Maybe shorten your rear brake cable housing when you get some zip ties too.
Yep the cables were oldies I had, off to get new ones and much shorter when I fix them properly!
