Here's the change to brag about your wonderful machines. No, not those horrid things with gears, we want your fixed gear and single speed weapons.

Originally, we had a thread labelled Fixie Gallery, but after about ten posts, it was just talking about my Europa, so I've relabelled that thread and invite all of you to start your own thread about your own bike.

Go for it :D

This has been unlocked... you can post your pictures.

Here is mine - A fixie for playing Bike Polo.

I have since ditched the pedals with studs and have simple flat pedals though will probably move to toe clips. I will switch the brakes back around - European style with front brake on the left (the polo mallet is on the right). Usually on once brake is required however the back brake is not in the way so I will leave it.

Yes, it is set-up on a double freewheel, but the wheel just needs to be flipped to be fixed. Still getting used to this whole fixie thing :?

well, since I had a grizzle in JrDack's thread and just to make Pete's Gerald Tate look even more beautiful...

introducing.... Ricky 'The Rat' Ricardo resplendent in all of his original kerbside find livery. I commuted daily on him like this for about 3 months (with bar tape!). He's currently in pieces awaiting a piece of 4x2 for a frame alignment(!) and a slightly smaller chainring.

hey tally - where did you get yr brake lever from and what kind is it?
tektro?

Yep, its a tektro de-anodized and polished. Old picture, its gone. I ride in the drops most of the time and it was a pia having it on the flat. Replaced it with a reverse brake lever that comes out the end of the bar. Much more convenient and safer.

where do u get em from? i've only seen ones that are black - i want shiny stuff!

got them off ebay. They were black but spray them with oven cleaner (the nasty one with sodium hydroxide) let it sit for 15 minutes and any anodizing just rubs off. A bit of a sand and some time with some fine steel wool, a polishing wheel and some car polish and hey presto, shiny. Most of the parts on this bike got the same treatment.

Still a work in progress (waiting on more $$$+parts), but fixed/free rear hub makes it relevant for this thread?

They only look good in the photo, sadly. steel hubs, steel rims, which have had to receive a lot rust removal and cleaning. suit the patina of the bike though.

Here, finally, is my budget fixie.Started life as a Nishiki Custom Sport,12 speed.Firstly, fixed, with original paint.
Image
Then, added a bit of flash with some alloy polish,a bit of a shave and some left over 2-pack gloss black paint.

Love my fixie, thanks for the inspiration.
Cheers Dominic. :D

Ha Ha, no I didn't,I work at an engine reconditioners,so into the tank of acid it went.It did emerge in its birthday suit.Saves sanding, etc,no work at all really. All I did to the frame then(after shaving derailuer hanger and rear brake bosses + weld on extra bosses for drink holder) was scotch brite it,paint 2 coats of etch primer, then 3 coats of 2-pack gloss, shiny off the paint gun.Too easy.
