I know i've posted it before but i finally got around to putting the head badge on and taking a pic with the right saddle, and that's excuse enough for me .

1986 Dawes Shadow. I recently found out it's actually Reynolds 500, not 531, but i had the stickers lying around so thought what the hell. Absolutely love this bike, really smooth, handles well and goes like stink.





And yea i know i need to trim that brake cable outer but the ziptie will do for now .

Nice, what make is it? And is it painted or powdercoat?

It a Protour Cavalier.Painted in a dark metallic green(looks light in the photo)

Oh nice, i had a Protour a few years ago, it was a nice ride. Is that Sherwood metallic? I sprayed my Tom Wallace in that, looks really good in the sun.

Treated the commuter to a clean and covered up some of the paint chips it received when thrown into the bushes when I was hit by a car earlier this year. Also added new stem and bars I scored ridiculously cheap on fleabay.

I've joined the fixie set (kinda) Knocked this together with a spare frame while the proper frame gets painted. Just need some front brake pads and time to ride it now. I've already scared myself riding it out the driveway and back (sloped driveway). After too many years with freewheel hubs I'm guessing it will be a slow start, somewhere flat and no traffic. THe only bits I have bought for this one are the wheels.

I've heard about not needing a brake on the back, the pads I had are pretty old, so I'm going to let them bed in where I dont need extra braking power.

Just remember... Neverstoppeddalin!

Sounds interesting... I've already discovered the difference purely in mounting and taking half a pedal stroke in the backyard. Feet keep going!

I have slightly re-jigged the presentation of my Gulf bike...a little less orange

The tyres are 32c but, I'll be fitting 28c in the coming days
Also, I plan to get a silver cross lever as the black stands out a bit too much IMO

I've got short arse legs and average torso. My ideal frame is 54 top tube and 50 ST ctc, hard to buy second had in those measurements!

I think it's a little under-donw now. Maybe throw the orange chain back on, or the tyres (prob not both)

I think the orange grips and saddle set it off before, not a fan of colour tyres and I think the black brake lever works fine with the black tyres.
