This....
.... and the close-up images in their gallery really says it all about the 'quality' of these bikes..... :?

Good luck guys - they'd have to be better than those dodgier-than-thou Industrie Fixies.....

Are they exploiting some sort of legal loophole by selling only on-line and part-assembled? The Australian Standard for Pedal Bicycles requires all bicycle manufacturers to give a 7 year warranty on the frame and 1 year on components.

Stay away from them, they're charlatans.

I think they are using a bit of subterfuge to move em on Ebay too.

Smooth regular welds for a start. Ones without gaps, pinholes or bubbles. Something I saw all over one in Melb CBD one Sunday recently walking with the lad.

They've artfully / dimly lit those photographs 8) so that it is hard to pick up the poor quality of these bikes

Study the enlargened photos, and compare with $500 bicycles of a reputable brand in a respectable bike shop with an honourable warranty and reliable back up service, and I think the differences will knock you out.....

Hi guys,
I was actually looking at these bikes and decided to do some research and came here. Can someone recommend a good similar look and price (up to $650)? In Melbourne at all? I'm really only going to use it to get around town (Nth Carlton, Brunswick, with the odd excursion to st kilda)I'm no bike rider by any stretch of the imagination. I take it these bikes are no good even for the casual rider?
Cheers

Apollo are an Australian bicycle company that have been around for 30 years. You may find the 'Salt' around for as low as $599

Is the Salt a new model for 2010? Was there a 2009 equivalent?

Thanks mulger bill. It's always good to know what to look for when picking up a new (or old) rig. I've always thought the lack of name brands on the components is never a good sign.
Talking about not knowing what to look for, just yesterday I was in an LBS and saw a guy walk in and look at bikes. The extent of his testing was to try the bell. I thought "you might as well just kick the tyres" :)

No 2009 equivalent. Part of the 2010 'Classic' Urban series, including the sub-$1000, higher specced lugged frame 'Pepper'.....

Chapellis is a good brand to get you started, with looking at those bikes you should be set - they look fancy !

Fancy to the untrained eye maybe. Read back through the whole of this thread. Notice how the chapelli bros have kept there noses
out of this here fair forum since they were first shot down in flames ?
