Painting frames or keep vintage?

What do u guys prefer keep the vintage look of the bike including scratches ets

or restore with a new coat of paint.

I am thinking of keeping vintage and save some money $$$ :p

The chips and dents are what are called "Beausage" - Beauty through useage.

If it is something truly vintage and rare, I would chase you with a big stick away from it. If it's something common and not in very good nick anyway, I'll be there with a colour chart, suggesting possible paint schemes.

Take a closer look at it. I cannot tell from the pictures, bit it might be just an inexpensive entry-level type frame that was stickered in the shop, or it might be a custom-build. I've read elsewhere that Rob Specials were hand-built in-shop up to a certain stage, and that later on they just bought frames and put their stickers on.

Steel rims - toss those, look around for an Alloy set. Steel is real, everywhere except the braking-when-wet category.

Yeah it was re stickered at the shop but I still dont feel like painting.

Getting new wheels for it and am making it into a single speed.

We shall see how we go.

It aint a custom hand built frame by the looks, but a shop-stickered, mass produced Japan or Chaiwan cheapy. Paint it up and decorate it.....

EDIT: Also the frame has no scratches or chips. Completley clean.

Paint or retain?
My Europa is a classic example. If I wanted a flawless paint job, I'd take her straight down to the sand blasters. However, the chips and scratches and rust and breakouts in the paint are all part of her appeal, they speak of her age and experience. Are they disfiguring? They come close and maybe I'm not far off having to put her into the shop for a restore and refurbish.

It's something that can only be decided on a bike by bike, situation by situation basis. Any other rational person would have my Europa booked into the sandblasters in an instant. i won't because I bought her new and she's still as I bought her ... along with with the ravages of age. She's MY Europa and I don't really give a flying furball if that doesn't gell with you. That's rather a hard line but when you've spent a quarter of a century with a bike, I think that's fair enough

I couldn't find the color its in but I will keep doing some searches and hopefully find it.
