Hi all here my situation i just got my new upgrade stratos keirin frame. Now i have a big problem i need to drill the front break hole in the fork , i have done it before on my mates bike for him and it worked all well but this time no my bike the crown is alot less room to drill. I have to run a break as i have been fined before not having one and if i hit someone they can charge me for not having a break any way im am NOT going to put one of the ugly clamp breaks on it so i must drill.I dont want a new fork as the frame and fork is beautiful.
here is my options so far
1/ there is 10mm play room and the bolt is 5mm thick so really 3mm on the bottom and 2 mm on the top of the bolt left if that makes sense is that going to be strong enough to hold
2/ 10mm play room get the last half of the bolt turned thiner say to 3.5mm so then it gives me more room to play with
i am building my dream bike now so i cant take no drilling for an answer so can any experts engineers out there please please help me with this as im !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !! if i cant do it.
the frame is a stratos frame columbus also if that helps
Drilling a Keirin Frame fork Need expert help please

+1 what brauluver said
Don't drill them. Buy a new fork, paint em the same colour and chop and change as much as you like.
If it's your dream bike then why make allowances?
Don't drill em.

DON'T DRILL THAT FORK!
Go and buy a nice chrome road fork for ~$70-80. It will have better geometry for the street and will ride nicer. And then, when you're sick of riding fixed because your knees are complaining, you have an unadulterated track frame to sell that hasn't been butchered by some home-drill-job.
Drilling track forks is sacrilegious.

I say drill it. It's not going to be your dream bike unless you do it. There is a fair bit of discussion around drilling v non-drilling here http://fixed.org.au/forums/index.php/topic,11938.0.html
Ghosts, if you're in Brisbane see Joe Cosgrove, if in Sydney start with Shifter Bikes. They should be able to give good, specific advice.

Dan Hale (Shifterbikes) is in MEL. He'd tell you not to drill it - as he did my Hillman when I needed to use a front brake too. He sold me a drilled road fork instead.GHOSTS wrote:im in sydney where is Shifter Bikes as i did a search and it looks like melbourne

Have you considered a clamp-on option so you don't need to drill?
