Re: Advice on Cycling Deals Wheel Set.Just noticed the velogear rims have gone up to $169, whats up with that?? australian dollar maybe?
Re: Advice on Cycling Deals Wheel Set.@brauluver - im just about to get the velogear rims and it says they are 5kg. Is that accurate? 5kg sounds heavy to me??
Re: Advice on Cycling Deals Wheel Set.
Thats shipping weight man. They are a damn sight lighter than the figures quoted onthe stars rims. don't 4get to tick the free tubes option.
Re: Advice on Cycling Deals Wheel Set.Yeah i figured as much.
Iv ordered them with the free tubes and $2 rim tape. Ill let you know when they arrive.
Re: Advice on Cycling Deals Wheel Set.I'll be ordering a set of these soon too
Is the rim tape worth having? At two bucks it's no biggie, but I'd rather save throwing 'em in landfill if they're just the useless hard plastic stuff... There are four phases of bicycle commuting; first there's fear, then rage, then self-righteousness and finally, fun.

Re: Advice on Cycling Deals Wheel Set.To be honest iv no idea what the stuff is for, i assume to make the inside of the rim a more suitable surface for a rubber tube, in turn minimising the chance of the rim puncturing the tube??
Re: Advice on Cycling Deals Wheel Set.
It stops the spoke nipples puncturing the tubes. The rim shouldnt puncture a tube, unless its been scratched somehow. MY RIDES: My Velospace Profile
Re: Advice on Cycling Deals Wheel Set.Anyone know what velogears delivery time is like?

Re: Advice on Cycling Deals Wheel Set.Ordered a set of these puppies yesterday, looking forward to getting my SS project rolling...
Thinking mebbe I should've thrown a crankset into the order as well but will see how I go with stock 52T to start with.... There are four phases of bicycle commuting; first there's fear, then rage, then self-righteousness and finally, fun.

Re: Advice on Cycling Deals Wheel Set.
52x18(the f/wheel supplied) will give you 76.2 GI on 25c tyres.
Re: Advice on Cycling Deals Wheel Set.I'll see how I go... Having blown my entire budget for the build on the wheelset I'm reusing as much from the original bike as possible
If I find I like riding ss I'll probably throw some cheap wheels on this one and sell it on, then find a nicer frame to build up for myself with a bit more thought, effort and $. Figured it was a false economy to buy cheap crap wheels though. Heard a knock at the back door this morning while I was still half asleep - when I got up there was a box on the doorstep. Nice surprise as I wasn't expecting them until the middle of next week There are four phases of bicycle commuting; first there's fear, then rage, then self-righteousness and finally, fun.
