Indi 500 Fixie completed

This is my first bike build, picked up an old forgotten Indi500 frame for 20$ and made a decision to build a fixie for under 200$ including paint.... As time went on I disregarded this and came out with extra parts and a heap of tools which i will definitely have use for in the future (including more bike building!)

Parts list -

Frame - Indi500
Stem - 30 Degree Rise bar (Flipped)
Handlebar - Champion cut to Bull Horns
Seat - Old Leather -Unknown Origin
Brake - Shimano
Chainring - Shimano Biospace 52T
Chain - KOOL 1/8 Chain (Made from 2 chains for length)
Wheels/Hub - Gold Alex G6000 with Formula Hub
Tyre - Vittoria Randonneur City Tyre (700x28)
Bar Tape - Cinelli Gold Tape
Pain Job - Primer Grey
Gold Toe Clips - For Extra Gayness

All up with tools and paint stuff cost about 375$... But that also includes bunch of extra stuff, 10 x tyres and other bike parts for future use. And bike rack for inside my place.

Well it was definitely a learning curve, would do things alot differently if i knew what i know now... But that's all part of the process. NOW before anyone says how out of place that bike seat looks i Agree.... I will include a pic with the original intended seat for show but in the end i thought the bike is only ever in 3 places - My apartment wall - My work Basement Parking OR WITH ME SITTING ON IT.... fact is it feels like my ass is floating on clouds that much comfier.... So yeh gona stay on for now until i get bored of looking at it.

I have no idea what model or make it is its pretty tattered and worn - a skittle for whoever can identify it!?!

Bunch of pics ill include them all...... Just cause.....

Was going for a grey/gold theme at the start.... Wacked the primer on realised it was the perfect colour i was looking for. Clearcoated it and there she is... Not amazingly tough but it will do, might go get powdercoat down the track if need be.....

Now onto starting a bike for me gf :S

Are you in Perth?

I swear I saw this bike pull out of a carpark on mounts street in Perth CBD. I ride up and down that damn hill everyday on a fixed gear (black with gold chainring), say g'day if you see me.

P.S. Nice conversion.

yeh mate that would have been me . Cannot escape anyone in Perth so tiny  I work in St Georges Square Building and the carpark entry is on Spring St around the back heh....

That's one of the tougher inclines i have to face even if i get to start half way up,the rest is pretty cruisy even on my weak legs(I live in Mount Lawley) :x fun fun.... Will give a wave if i see ya I should be pretty much riding everyday will keep an eye out!

Kool, I commute from Yokine, that hill is the toughest through the whole trip, I don't know what's worse, going down or coming up.

Work on mounts bay road in an office at the base of the mounts bay apartments. But we move out tomorrow to subi, so will now be climbing loftus/thomas street hill instead from now on... goodie.

Thankful that tomorrow will be the last time I have to attack that filthy beast of a hill.

Happy travels

I never had a brake issue. The brake i used actually came from another bike which i used as a donor bike for the project.... It is some lower spec shimano front brake. So i duno seems to fit spot on.

Does this take 700c or 27" wheels? Also what is the frame like in regards to geometry and weight?

Got a guy offering me a complete Indi 500 Falcon in OK condition, just needs new tires and bar tape and a good clean up.

He wants $120 for it though, so I don't know if it's worth that much. I am wanting to ado a project bike but keep the total cost under $300 excluding tools.

Can anyone offer some insight?

Have you used one of those quill stem adaptors to make use of the threadless stem?
if so how do you find it?

Bullhorns are the best for getting up hills!

Agreed. But drops can also be quite effective.

I'm keeping the drops on project bike for now, simply because I think that they look better and will help on those afternoon rides home into the headwind (common through most of spring and summer in Perth).

I like the look of bullhorns though, if done properly.

Lets not make the mods merge this thread with the risers vs. bullhorn thread.

Thanks again shizmo. I am now the new proud owner of this great bike. I have to say I'm currently considering swapping these bullhorns for some Axiom drops I've got lying around because these bullhorns....
