I think this miscommunication is that you said you were "going to use Quando hubs", sounding like you were going to build wheels with Quando hubs for your fixed gear. Did you maybe mean you were buying the same Stars Circles wheels (complete) that I have?EvilGenius wrote:I don't get you?

Honestly, I will probably end up buying some Velocity's when I have more money. The Stars are ok for the money, but they're heavy and just don't look very durable.

On my fixed gear build I will use STARS and then maybe upgrade to something fancier later when I have a few more $.
Are STARS ok for first wheels though?

Most times going single speed is quick and easy. If you have a set of wheels around that are for a cassette, you also have an easy option. Just buy a set of spacers and go nuts. Fine tuning chainline is very easy this way as well.

I think you put spacers between the fixed wheel and the hub to make it space out a bit... correct me if I am wrong.ag23q wrote:aha sorry to add to the hijack but while we're at it,

Sorry dude, I'm no good with kids. Maybe post this question in the Cycling Health forum?munga wrote:yeah sorry to hijack, but my daughter has this cough? its sort of a 'aheeaa, aheeaa-huu' ;p
As far as aligning the chain line, when I out mine together it was out a bit and I corrected it by moving the chain ring from outer side to the inside of the crank spider. This may be enough to get you out of trouble. If you have a decent set of wheels I understand that shimming the sprocket is a possibility. With cheaper wheels, such as my Stars Circles this isn't an option.
