The lad(he's 12) doesn't have a parts bin like you and I with wheels, bars stem, seat/post etc... to add to a frame.
He's starting from scratch and will need all the ancillary bits from a complete bike to facilitate his build for minimum $$$$$

If someone had a repco superlite or an apollo/kuwahara, shogun cro mo roady in a 54 square in melbourne then it would be sorted.
Young fella on a budget wants to get into cycling, even if someone interstate had a bike to donate ,all he'd have to do is cough for freight.

I'll have a look around locally (I live in Brisbane) but I don't have anything in that size frame myself otherwise he'd be stroking and polishing right now.

He'll need a wheel set regardless of the frame and I don't think any of us have those to give away.
I honestly reckon a VISP is a good option but sure...I hear what you're saying.

I have a Repco Traveller frame (not sure if it's 54 or 56cm but it's not big) with horizontal dropouts from my old fixie build that I just spray painted purple. It also has a stem, light Japanese drops, seat post with a very good condition narrow silver seat. It was very ridable with no rust but pulled a bit to the left when I tried to ride no-handed which I had to offset with my weight balance.

I'm in the westside of Melbourne and can let it all go cheap if you're interested.

Travellers are a very lazy geometry low end Hiten(heavy) frame, that are a hard rubbish staple.
I'd be a little concerned about the pulling to left scenario,as it could be accident damaged.
Realistically EG a bike like this should be a freebie, even as a complete.Don't pay more than $15 for one of these if you must.

Tange 2 is some nice lightweight butted Cro Mo goodness EG.Chances are a frame made from this will be a nicer geometry than a traveller too.

Yeah, the bad weather was the main bit. My mum hates to cycle in the cold and then when it warmed up she said that she wasn't feeling up to it today (tiredness).
I may go tomorrow but I wouldn't count on it.

I also went to CERES today... I did not find a bike though. They had alot of old MTB's and one track frame. No luck. I walked in telling the guy that I wanted an old road bike for a fixed/single conversion and he gave me the reply " No...Never, your not going to find one here" and I then said "Well what do you have?" and out behind him he pulls out a track frame?!?!?!
They had alot of old road bikes that would have been perfect that were apparently "not up for sale".

Next time tell them you want an old tenspeed to strip and rebuild to learn about bikes and ride to school,and you'll probably find they are for sale.

Hi ten(heavy) steel.
From the looks of it, the cranks are those cheapies again that can't be split so useless to you.
Nice stem and bars though.It will sell for more than it's worth .
