Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuingi don't mind fixies but if i could, i'd introduce a rule that the handlebars had to be a minimum width. those short ones are really ugly.
Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuing
me too, I started riding one in 1962 I couldn't get the brakes on my bike to work so I got a really loud horn, crisis over!
Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuingaaron yours aren't ugly. they're not all ugly, but i go to fgg and want to poke every second owner in the eye

Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuing
Yeah, that's the kind of thing I'm talking about. Though make it a white aerospoke and cut down flat bars with flouro green or pink Ourys (ie: something that doesn't match) and I'm gonna take the owner for a drive around the block... while tied to the rear bumper of my car. Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuingStill, you have to admit, this person has obviously spent some time and money on their whip. While we may find it as visually coherent and your average kebab at 3a.m., this person obviously rides (and dare I say it loves) their bike. Can't fault them for that.
Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuingthe difference here is that i dont photograph, nor am i proud of, my 3am kebabbery

Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuing
How the hell do you ride it with the seat down and the bars up like that? It looks like somebody described a track bike to the guy over a scratchy phone line and he built it from memory. It's the ugliest damn thing this side of Bea Arthur riding a Raleigh 20 naked. So we get the leaders we deserve and we elect, we get the companies and the products that we ask for, right? Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuing@munga...lol, true. And the kebab usually tastes good the first time...
@Drubi...oh god, that image is going to be in my dreams tonight.

Had to save that photo for future laughs...
Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuing![]() I think im gonna get some purple rims and some pink BMX pedals. A flouro green kashimax saddle and some streamers for the handlebars.
Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuing
Can anyone see that stems minimum insertion mark? That pump is a blight upon the minimalist credo. Aerospokes. Form, fashion or function. Discuss... ...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuing
Obviously fashion. They originated from function, as some people may know, commuters had the aerospokes on one wheel to allow quick locking on the bike while delivering items. I personally like the look of 3/5 star aerospokes, however only on certain bikes and in a matching pair. The fashion-oriented "fixie" style of having one on the rear/front only is a little silly. Has anyone noticed that on Orbea's new website they offer a pre-fab fixie option.. humorously named "Dude". Even with a company trying to get into a market they can't take it seriously.

You also need some really short black or white stem. And then you can sell me the Merckx stem for my '92 Merckx. Grumps You are very tedious, and grumpy. Stay at home and give advice from your armchair.

Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuing
Bah haha true that. However I think it just doesn't have brakes in the display pic for aesthetic reasons. The website seems to list that it has brakes, although I don't know anything about fixies so it could be code for something else?

Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuingnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Where did we go wrong, my elsest son is a hipster, the middle one is a bogan (he drinks VB and likes acdc/metallica). At least there is hope for the youngest, he rides a bike
Ever since the vasectomy...I mostly ride fixed.
Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuing
Your eldest son should be riding a fixie if he really wants hipster street cred. Win-win. Check out my practical cycling and cycle touring website: VELOPHILE AUSTRALIA
Re: hipsters on fixie trend continuing
a real hipster would actually drink VB and listen to AC/DC because it's "Ironic" and totally so uncool, that it just has to be like totally cool to drink VB and listen to metallica especially early metallica, cause that's when they wore skinny jeans that were totally epic, have you seen how skinny their jeans were? Awesome, that is so bogan, that it's just RAD! And how Rad! is it to be fully into bogan stuff and get how epically cheesy it is, but still totally get totally into it, but not too much cause that would just look like you are trying way too hard. Have you seen my Facebook status? Not that go on Facebook any more..totally wak! Facebook is so played out. A friend of mine who lives on Northcote - he used to live in Fitzroy but reckons it got overun by "Hipster Douchbags" - told me that no one does Facebook any more. It's all about TWITTER. Get onto it peeps.. Epic...
