Cannondale Capo 1

I'm looking at one of these at the moment. I can get it for $2000 from my LBS. I'm a Cannondale fan and love the look of it. I want to use it almost exclusively for Track Racing, but having the ability to use it as a fixie on the road has some appeal as well.

I know this is slightly off topic here, but this forum has all the answers on fixies so I thought that I might be able to get some general feedback at the very least on the bike.

Your thoughts would be appreciated

Bottle cage mounts and a drilled front fork(brakes included) would suggest it's more of a street style fixie fashion horse than a true track steed.
That considered, I'd say it's an overpriced label brand's cynical attempt at cashing in on a trend.

hey thats a really nice bike. It's probably a bit overpriced for a street fixie isnt it? I bought my first fixie today because i thought my road bike was too expensive to take to work!

Hey mate, I picked up that exact Capo up last week (with drop bars) and have always had Cannondales (F1000, F2000, R2000). Its got pretty agressive geometry of a track bike but still feels pretty sturdy for fanging around the city. My only gripe after doing about 120kms on it is the noise from the freewheel side of the flip/flop hub. Without a chain (I'm using the fixed wheel option) the freewheel rattles a bit and the CAAD5 framing makes the creak quite audible.

Aside from that it is awesome. I was looking for a single speed road bike but since I have already raced a bit of track in the past I am going to get plenty of use out of it. It feels great without looking like a hipster removed bike with all the pastel removed you see going around these days. I picked it up on special for $1700 which is probably still a bit expensive but the fact its the last of the Bedford, PA made frames (Cannondale are moving manufacturing to Taiwan) its probably also a pretty sweet collector's item.

Got it for $1400 without cranks. Have since fitted Campag' record pista cranks..

It's orange with flamed black highlights...not red (probably due to the bad photo I took). It's also 21 years old, a Hillman, with full Sugino running gear (all original)......and it's already mine.
