Upgrading SS

Hi everyone
I'm looking to upgrade from my Reid harrier SS which ive been riding for the past 18 months for my daily commute and rides up to 20km on weekends. It has done me well to get me back in to riding, but I'd like some thing a little more serious, bit still not breaking the budget ~$700 max. I'd like to change to fixed most weekends. Any advice would be helpful
