The first fixed gear i got was a second hand Avanti Solo in 2010. changed a few components on it and absolutely loved it. But it was short lived as it got stolen mid 2012 the second day i cycled around Melbourne CBD.

Anyway, i never got around fixing a new bike, until a friend left me this:

a 2010 fuji feather frame. i thought it would look great for a black/grey build so i ordered a pair of Hplusson archetype in anodyzed grey with black hubs. But one morning I while i was jogging i found these at a garage sale and got myself what i think is a bargain.

now im thinking of using these and building a retro fixie. needs some work tho. anyone know of an effective way to clean up those rusts?

The hub is a rear road hub, so of no use to you for a fixed gear.

The cranks are road as well, so you will need to get a chainring in the appropriate BCD (probably 130bcd) but they are ok.

The pedals will need a good clean.


The Campy cranks are anodized so the only way to clean them is to strip the anodizing off with oven cleaner and polish. The pedals, a good polish with autosol/steelwool will clean them up.
