What things make a funky SS/ fixie, and what is uncool

Im building a singlespeed and wondering what things are a no-no.
I have a nice Gefsco track frame with track dropouts but am wondering about the other stuff.
Wheels: it seems spoked rear wheels and a fancy front (aerospoke /shamal /deep V etc) are preferred. Is it uncool to have say a trispoke rear and an aerospoke front? What are the rules for wheels?
Bars: bullhorns and short flat bars are apparently funky. What about cruiser bars /girls bike bars?
Cranks: Wish I had some retro Campag or Durace cranks but I don't. If I put cheapy Lascos on it will I ruin it?
Seats: Gave away all my Turbo saddles ...does anyone care about what saddle people have?

Build it like you would build a track bike.

Put a 18t sprocket on the back.

Ride it on the street.

Build what you like and don't worry about others. A Gefsco is a classic though, so do it justice.
However, my ideas include a brake on the street, but get one that doesn't ruin the lines. Clean and sleek looks way better on a legit track frame. Turbo saddles are the bomb, high flange shininess for the hubs, understated bits of bling, chain bolts, spoke nipples etcetera.

Fr me it's matching front and rear wheels, and no harm in a deep dish coloured rim. Bullhorn bars, front brake, shiny cranks. I like the idea of shiny high flange hubs too.

All subjective: my preference is:

Track bike setup (straight stem is OK) with normal spokes/rims being my preference, and a front brake. Whatever period saddle suits your bottom. Concor/turbo is good.

No flat bars, no tri spokes.

That is a nice frame....

Is it for mostly street/some track use, mostly track/some street, all of one or the other? What colour is the frame?

Subjective az!

For me, on a steel track frame:
Bars - classic bend bars, road OK only if track not available
Components - matching colour, all silver or all black (hubs, stem, bars, seat post)
Wheels - spokes might be determined by hubs and rims, but if in doubt, silver or grey
Saddles - given that it will be covered by the rider, pick something that rides nicely, though you don't want to be too outrageous in the choice

Yay ...finally finished it. Being a track frame I had some problems getting brakes on it. The track forks couldn't really be drilled so I took them out and looked for some road forks to put in.... it was hard to find something which fitted. My bike mechanic mate came to the rescue, he had some forks but had to retap the thread an extra 50mm and then cut the steerer down. Anyway, I like it. The bars are girly but I like them a lot.

The Dyna drive cranks are somewhat of a rarity too, you must have a crazy parts bin!

I had one of those rear tri-spokes same as above, for my roadie though. Had the loudest free hub ever, probably because it rattled through the hollow 'spokes'

Anyway, looks like fun to ride! If you want to put the original forks back on though, get a diacompe clamp on brake. I ran one on my track bike for about 5 seconds. But they work well!

haha Yes mate I just went for a ride around the block ... its a bit BIG I'll change it. I just put on a spare DuraAce 53 chainring that I had laying around. The 19 cog came from a worn out 8 speed cluster. Easy fixed.
Yes its mostly stuff I had laying around. I have a pair of those Tri-Spokes which are on a retro build Im in the middle of. This was a third one.
Tried to sell the AX stuff but couldn't so I just threw it on this.

Amazing! H8RS GONNA H8 but that thing looks fun to ride. BArs are perfect for leaning into long skids down undulating hills. Comfort > speed is the order of the day....although the gearing and mad tri-spoke on the rear suggests you like going fast.

I swapped the 19 cog for a 21 which reduces the gearing to 66.3 which seems perfect for just cruising around on. My hot shot cyclist son who had ridiculed the build took it for a spin and declared it was "really good to ride"
