Bike Purchase Help

Postby fulthy » Sat Feb 28, 2015 9:37 pm

Hi

I'm new to the forums and looking for a bit of help with a bike purchase.

Looking for a fixie to ride around town, very casual rider, nothing serious. I've never owned one before but it sounds like a good challenge.

Budget of about $350. I'd like free/fixed hub. Ideally 54cm frame but think I could also use a 56cm.

I've read a few of the posts on this site and it seems like there is a lot of knowledge here. The search so far has the following in the lead. Does anyone have reviews or comments on the following bikes? Any advice on better alternatives would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

Check out Cellbikes, i had one for work commute and had no dramas. Comes with pannier rack mounts too. For $250 it done its job.

This.

Banger for the price. Don't waste cash on others. If you like it, then you'll want to upgrade anyway.

As others have said, in that price bracket there probably isn't much recognizable real world difference between the bikes so to speak when you ride them, better to go with something proven with a name to it like the Cell. It is Hi Ten Cell vs Cro Mo for the eBay one but really there isn't much to it at that low end.

I'm sure it'll get you around without hassle and maybe give you the bug for something more :)
