Fixie Bike Part Help - Bianchi Pista

Hi everyone,

Could someone please help me out, I'm trying to track down the brands and model numbers for the bike photo below. I am keen to purchase this blue Bianchi Pista Frame and parts however unsure what the model number is.

1. Frame Model and Year (are they still in production?)
2. Wheels Rims (Brand?)
3. Groupset (possibly cant see cleary from the photos, however what would be the typical brand of this groupset to fit the Bianchi Pista?)
4. Seat Post (Maybe someone knows this brand?)
5. Any other details of the frame and bike components would be appreciated.

Further to this, if anyone know's any bike stores who would sell this type of bike in Australia (I am a Bianchi fan and currently ride a Bianchi Road Bike) it would be appreciated.

link in photo says 2009 Pista, so I might assume it's a 2009 Bianchi Pista. They came out in full chrome too, but I have no idea as to current availability or colour scheme. Most in Australia around that time were sourced in the US and brought over individually AFAIK.

The rest is easy: wheelset is Mavic Eclipse, standard, stem and seatpost are Thomson, bars I have no idea, brake looks like a bog standard Campagnolo Daytona/Chorus something, saddle looks to be a Fi'Z'ik something, maybe a Pave, and the cranks are cheap crap (possibly Truvativ branded, maybe not). No groupset needed, or in evidence here.

TBH: frame/fork and wheels are good, the rest is thrown together 'meh' and Blind Freddie could probably do a better job in my humble opinion. Gearing looks like it might be around 42x15.

I saw a few around Perth around this time, 2009 as RustyChisel says. Not sure about them all being private imports more low volume imports/special order through retailers. Pretty sure I rememebr seeing the odd one in stores.


to the OP; this example looks like it's been pretty well customised. They were originally a plain bike for the track. Mavic wheels, Thomson seatpost, riser bars all more than likely aftermarket 'personalisations' whatever that means when fashion comes into it. Nicer bits than original spec anyway.

I thought the cranks may have been Sugino RD2s (aka Messengers) but the ring is mounted on the inboard shelf and the visible spider ends are rounded, so I'd say they might be the generic originals.


BTW 'groupset' generally refers to the ensemble of bits that make up the drivetrain on a geared bike including the F+R derailleurs, not a SS or Fixed gear.

I disagree slightly with rustychisel, I think this one looks a hell of a lot better than more "custom" fixies.
I agree the frame and definitely the wheels are the highlights. Stem and seat post are quality items without being anything amazing. Crank looks cheap to me too, since the ring is mounted on the inside, it looks like a generic road double crankset with just a single ring.

Overall, I think it's a cool bike. I wasnt a fan of the chrome frames.

For the Bianchi questions, look up the website to see current models and a list of dealers. As mentioned though, it's not a model every dealer would carry, often a special order type item.

Point taken, and fair enough. To clarify, it's the thrown together nature of the build I was highlighting; y'know, silver spacers and black stem et al rather than individual quality of components. [edit: except the cranks and possibly chainring]

Just had another question regarding this post, where is the best place to potential source a 2009 Bianchi Pista Frame in Australia?

Possibly there's a company overseas who may specialise in older frames or may know how to source a frame like this?

Any links / website or leads would be appreciated.

Set up e-mail searches for the keywords on Mugtree / Fleabay.

I wouldn't count on being able to find one NOS (new old stock).

err... I don't see how you really distinguish between the current steel Pista option (as I linked) and those of about 5 or 6 years back. They're basically just just TIG butt-welded Chro-moly. They've offered something similar for at least the last 10 years or so with some pretense of being a very basic, entry level track bike but mostly more urban SS/Fixed Gear riding.

Is it just the blue of that you originally posted that floats your boat? If that's the case, treat something second hand to a new paint job and some new stickers if you must keep the Bianchi provenance displayed.
