Wheel discs.
Postby Freddyflatfoot » Tue Dec 16, 2008 10:29 am
I just made up some corflute wheel discs for my trike.
Thos hubs alone are well worth what you paid for the wheelchair, even if you don't use the rims. Do they have hub brakes?

Do it right the first time. Ditch the rims/solid tyres, and use either 16" or 20" rims/tyres. You got a real bargain! Those hubs alone are worth over $200 new, plus you have the axles as well!
I have those drum brakes on one of my trikes, and they are very effective brakes. You have done very well indeed.

BTW: Keep the pics coming, we love progress shots, my only concern is the main tube seems undersized, it will probably hold up but it will flex abit, could use two tubes side by side and it will be heaps stiffer in twisting and flexing.

I built a little mecano model last night to see how the steering worked and it looks fairly simple to copy.

look for Nobuo's delta in the gallery. I like that one. I think there is some u tube of it too.
The Hipparion and the pythons both use the same principal. They have positive trail and apparently can be a problem at high speeds.
I'm going to build one soon. Got to build the sociable tandem trike first. That's the next major project.

You do realise that now you have started home building it is as addictive as herion and one is never enough. I have just completed my fourth recumbent.1 Marauder clone,1 trike,1highracer and 1 SWB 26" 20" recumbent.
I have just discovered this forum so I can see I will have a few late nights reading to get up speed. It is great to read a bike forum with a australian bent(pun intended)

You do realise there is a carefully worked out scientific formulae for how many bikes you need?
Number of bikes needed=N+1
with N =current number of bikes owned!
My N is currnetly 24
Wife is not happy
