Look what Freddyflatfoot has done . He posted his tailbox on BROL and got me thinking about it too. Just spend the last 1.5 hrs doing the front fairing from a pair of Toyota Hilux front light protector. Cost me only a dollar. Bargain. Another $10 for hardware.

Initial test was very positive. Act like a sail with a tail wind . Will give it a better test tomorrow.

I don't know where I could get a pair of those protectors from for a front fairing but I found an interesting source for coroplast : The local Myers store throws the stuff out after it comes in as packaging for pictures and stuff. Generally 6mm thick. I guess that Myers won't be the only one receiving goods this way so perhaps check out the dumpster for your local furniture store? With their permission, of course.

Anyway, I also like your seat (mine had staples in it that I found the hard way) but isn't your tailbox too small?

I got mine on a special from Supercheap Auto. The aluminium hardware is from Bunning. Surprising easy once thought through. The fairing is stable coming down a steep hill at 60km/hr ++ (I reckoned I hit 75km/hr++). I don't have a computer. It definitely feels very quick.

You do need transparent material for front fairing on a low racer. Being seated a lot more recline than a high racer, you have to view through the front fairing. Agreed the tailbox is a bit small. It was my first attempt. Will get some coroplast and knock up a bigger one soon.

For those of you that don't visit BROL, yes, I have been busy!
My trike now has a tailbox and wheel discs all way round, and my SWB has a rear disc and a tailbox!
I have noticed a reasonably significant increase in flat cruising speed on both the trike and the SWB, as well as very usable storage or around 44 litres for both boxes.
Pre fairing and discs my avg speed on the SWB was 24.8, and the trike was 23.8. Now, on the same circuit my avg. is now 28.1 on the SWB and 27.8 on the trike! (I'm assuming the 'engine' is about the same!)

Just joking Rob . Glad you had posted your tailbox on BROL. I have been thinking along the line. When I came across the front light protectors, I couldn't pass it for only a dollar. I am happy with it and I am sure it would keep my feet dry too in the rain.
