Kenda Kwest

Postby Just Bents » Thu May 14, 2009 6:05 pm

Hi All

I have just worn a set of Kenda Kwest 20x1.25 tyres out on the front of the trike I ride. The tyres have completed over 2,500klms in the last 14 months with only one puncture of which has just happened in the last couple of weeks. One of the front tyres has worn through and is showing the red casing of the tyre. I have had Schwalbe tyres on a previous trike (Marathon Racers) and was impressed by there performance but when reviewing the Marathon Racers against the Kwests I must admit the Kwests have performed better. In Perth and this is probable like any other locations in other states, the amount of glass we encounter when riding has appears to be increasing than in previous years. With the Schwalbe glass was the main cause of punctures where as the Kwests I have not had and sign of glass impregnated into the tyre or the cause of the single puncture I have experienced.

I was woundering how others who have Kendas can provide some feed back on the performance of their tyres.

Cheers

Craig

With the abolition of Day Light Saving there will be no more punctures.

Except now we have rain coming, this will increase the number of punctures.

Hopefully the rain is heavy enough to wash the glass off the roads/paths!
However, this doesn't answer your question.
I would be looking at either of the following tyres,
Continental Sports Contact (if you can get them!)
Schwalbe Kojak
Greenspeed Scorcher Kevlar
Primo Comet Kevlar.
I will probably be in the same boat when I wear out my Sport Contacts, currently at 2560 k's and still going strong! No punctures.
The Comet seems to always get good reviews.
The Kojak and Scorchers probably roll the best.
Run your pressures at ~ 60 psi, and you should be good to go!
Try and pay the extra for the kevlar belt, and your problems/punctures should be minimised!
let us know what you decide and they work out for you.
Cheers!
