The TRUE world hour record

What's the real 1 hour distance record? How does more than 85km sound? What's more, it was set by a 48 year old man .....

Find out more here.. (It's a little hard to read the font. Use ctrl + to zoom in, but give it a few seconds to take effect).

See how fast you can go if the UCI would just keep their self-serving hands off bike design? :twisted:

No, but I did see some people climbing back over guard rails in the TdF! :D

From the article liked above, it seems just getting off the starting line can lead to falls. :shock: Cross winds would be a pain at those speeds on 1" tyres, that's for sure, but the English guy still managed to finish an hour run with 25mph cross winds, so it can be done.

:shock: No way I'd take that out in traffic, not even painted flouro red and yellow with an aviation strobe on top. Damn quick tho'.

Unfortunately the original link has disappeared. However, there is a link to a thesis, from my cycling links page, which discusses many of the same issues.
