titanium Baccetta

8 days to go in the auction. Reckon it'll sell for the current top bid of $10.50?

Somehow I doubt it! They are now a collectors' item, since Bacchetta won't be making any more. They had a special run of tubing made years ago (they use a tear-drop cross-section shaped tube) and that has now run out. Getting more tubing done is prohibitively expensive with the current very high price of Ti.

Anything less than US$3000 is a bargain for the bike.

You can get a carbon fibre versionthough!

Cheers,
Graeme

Blimey, those are collector's items indeed, and by all accounts fantastic bikes. I almost wish I hadn't seen that, I might fail to resist doing something silly... Fortunately my upcoming holidays will probably save me front splashing out silly money on another bike, I need to save my pennies for my travels.

Wonder why the gearing has been lowered

It's up to $51 - lots of novice bidders at work there. This is one where a sniping program might be the go.

'Bents tend to be difficult to get used to and you need to spin at high cadence to prevent your knees blowing out. My guess is the owner is a little on the heavy side and needed the lower gearing to cope with hills. (He swapped out the standard 11-32 cassette for a 12-27, so needs the tiny small chain ring to compensate.)

Graeme

(PS - watch for my snipe coming in at the end too ....)

Three and a bit hours to go and it's up to $1,800. This is going to be fun. Wish I knew how many people were watching it.

Whats with the Bidder 01 Bidder 02 ...? Haven't seen this before. Anyone know.

I reckon with the time remaining this may come in under $2,500.

Wonder what a fair price for that bike'd be ie, where do we start thinking the buyer got suckered?

Graeme said earlier in this thread "Anything less than US$3000 is a bargain for the bike."

Went for $2,515, $15 more than I suggested. Where do I collect my prize? :)

I set a snipe on it because I knew I'd be away when the auction finished. I didn't really want to win it*, but I would hate to think I missed out on the bargain of the century if it ended up selling for less than $1000. My snipe of $1200 was obviously rejected. The buyer got a good deal - I would have paid AUD$3200 in April had it been for sale then.

Cheers,
Graeme
