The recumbent look

Postby anonymous_ » Thu Jun 16, 2011 4:08 pm

I know a fixie rider wears tight jeans sneakers long hair in a pony tail.

But what is the look for the laydown rider?

Zip Zilch Narding we lay down riders have become a unique type

I really don't know if there is a dress code or at least with me I don't give a toss I wear what I like depending on conditions. Most times I wear wicking shirts with some form of jacket if it's winter along with compression tights/bibs underneath tracky dacks. If it's wet weather I throw on my Oxford Chillout chillproof/waterproof clothing so in my opinion rather than follow the trend or fashion find out what best works for you and fine tune it until it all works. Being comfy in all conditions is at the top of my list and added to that list most of my clothing has to be fast drying.

Wait for it...
We are not all weirdo's with beards, well, some ar'nt ;)

Comfort is the go, no jersey back pockets obviously and the aero is already covered so nothing needs to be tight in that regard.
You do have to keep in mind that wind comes from a different direction so some shorts can be much too breezy or billow up resulting in others discomfort!

As Shakespeare (almost) put it, in Henry V, when he was proposing to Kate:

you and I cannot be confined within the weak
list of cycling's fashion: we 'bentists are the makers of
manners

It's not often you see the Immortal Bard quoted in a bicycling thread.

One of the advantages of 'benting is there's usually little or no crotch irritation, so we don't need to look like we're wearing incontinence pads.

I usually wear a lycra shirt with compression knicks and arm sleeves for sun protection, as well as a peaked kepi under my helmet to protect both my face and my neck. And sometimes tracky dax if I'm not wearing leggies.

If it's raining I wear a frown and stay at home or ride my motorcycle with wet weather trousers and jacket.

Here. Although, this rider might ordinarily be sporting a skid lid.

voluntarilly de-registered; ths forum isn't so much funny as it is a joke. Bling sitting in your shed and bragging about it here does not make you a touring cyclist, or capable of giving worthwhile or sound advice to newcomers, this place is proof of that

^^^ Don't listen to any of these guys. They're kiddin' themselves.

A 'bent rider must have a long white beard and a roof over the toolshed.

This is the main thing we have in common:

You're quite right. It's funny how I never noticed it before.

JB

I have to admit that I'm a recent convert to the bent world and it's true that there are more smiles on a bent rider than any other I have seen. Even me when I switch back to the MTB I loose some of the smiles I have on a bent.

Back on topic I must also point out that during summer I always wear bibs or tights along with fitting shorts because as we all know on bents your family jewels are always subjected to that friendly bug that wants to wizz up your inside leg causing mayhem until it's removed so be mindful of this issue.
