I’d done a lot of trips on my “Sun Speedster” over a few years…. And for touring it’s a great bike
Here she is…

But was it the “best touring bike”??
Well there were a few things could be better…
It’s a bit twitchy at low speed…
With a big load it gets hard in very steep mountains…
Be nice if it had some sort of spring under the seat or suspension…
Be nice if it could fold for overseas trips

Then I came up with an idea that it [the perfect touring bike] could be ridden in both the up and down positions
So around to see my mate Bob
Yes he thought we could do it
So “The Updown Bike” was born

I’ve now done quite a few trips on her [must be getting up to near10,000ks}
And she’s near to been “The Perfect Touring Bike”
But I’ve got a few new ideas
“Shut up Leigh these to many other things to do”

Ah, now this one is familiar, I'm sure I read an article on your Updown Bike somewhere. Was it Australian Cyclist magazine? Or somewhere else?

Yes was in Australian Cyclist magazine...
the write up was just as I finished it and these been quite a few changes since then... and lots of long tours :)
