Finally got around to editing a video on the Brissie to Bay video. No cameo of Rhubarb in mine though as I the camera was off when he went past me at the rest stop :-)

I've used slime in a presta valve tube once before, it was pretty hard to get in, but worked once in there (for small thorns). Maybe they make presta tubes with removable valve cores(mtb tubeless valves have this so you can put sealant through/seat the bead)? it does weigh a TON once you have the required amount in , I'd be inclined to put a thick "thornproof" tube in rather than slime for that reason...?
I think you will definitely need to remove the wheel to put the new tyre on.

I had a funny deja-vu moment watching that video! I was over in Perth for a couple of months early last year and drove those roads near Rockingham looking for a nice beach/coffee shop. Funny the weird stuff my brain bothers to remember!

Worth checking out Continental

Yes there are Presta valves with removable cores. The Swalbe tubes I have on the Mango have them.

You need about 2 ounces of Stan's No Tubes per tyre if I recall aright. Can't be bothered checking metric equivilent.

There was quite a bit about using it on BROL back about 2012.
A search should find it. I was going to add it but couldn't get the Stan's locally at the time so never did it.

Enjoyed watching those Rhubarb.
Saw my first quadcopter today. Little toy one controlled via phone.
It had video. I stopped to talk to the guy and he showed us video he'd shot of us riding up the path.
Be fun to try one but knowing me I'd stack it.

It looks like Qld is leading the charge with Velomobiles. Now that there is a WAW in our midst, any feedback on which one is nicer/faster/smoother/better handling etc (WAW v's Mango RE)?

BTW, did the Milan SL end up arriving in Aus? (Maybe Andrew can fill us in a bit more).

If you are referring to the white velo in the video, it is a DF owned by Rhubarb-it certainly is faster! Rhubarb can provide all the other details.

In Queensland to my knowledge, there are currently 3 x Mango RE, 3 x Rotovelos, 1 x DF and I wouldn't be surprised if another RV was on the way!

There is a Milan SL is in Sydney that I am aware of. So the Australia wide count must be somewhere around 13 or so?

Two Mangos and a Rotovelo in WA that I know of.

Link to a map but probably not up to date anyway.

Small question... Your velos ?
How much room is there around your front derailleur and crank area ?
Any chance of fitting a mid/crank drive in there ? (Legal peddle assist electric motor)
I fell in love with mine on my trike, however the lack of sunlight protection means I'm fried by the end of a long ride....far nq...

In my Rotovelo, there would be more than enough room for a front mounted crank drive. Aushikers posts got me thinking about it when I am feeling lazy and tired. some good pictures on Trisled's facebook page showing how much room there is

I managed to damage the thread on the rear wheel, so had to order a new wheel for the Mango I took the opportunity to order some upgrades and finished fitting them today. So the Mango has been pimped a little i.e. New rear wheel, lowered rear suspension, upgraded and lowered front suspension, upgraded steering plates, just awaiting the replacement idlers to upgrade the drivetrain then I will be complete! :D

Mine like Bartek's is also red and white and has full suspension.
It is really appreciated on the roads around here I can tell you.

There are some fully suspended trikes available too I think.

As for Recumbenteer... He's a masochist. He rode that Green Rocket all the way from Perth back home.

BTW. Good to see you are up and running again after the run in with the drunk.

For those not following global velo trends, there is a 4 wheeled velo in the making, from the manufacturer of the Quest, which was the market leader for 10 years, until the last 2 years.

The QuattroVelo will be marketed to the velo touring folks who will appreciate the added luggage etc. One of the design criteria was the ability to fit a carton of beer in the boot. Gotta love that hey :-)

Anyways, I just saw this latest video of the QV and thought "that is going to sell 100 velos alone" !!!

If you want the start of a velomobile project, basically a trike with the framework for a fairing, then this trike might be worth it, if not just for the parts at a bargain $150.
Image
I'd be moving that strut connecting the fairing framework to the BB, anywhere but in my sightline.
Obviously selling the trike as he's already sold his beard.

I have an opportunity to acquire a velomobile, unfortunately this means I have to sell my trike to afford it. I am just wondering if this is a sensible move. My trike has e-assist and a fairing and is a fast machine, and an absolute blast to ride. I imagine a velomobile is faster at the top end, the trike sort of hits the wall a bit after 40kph. Is it worth the enclosing, is a floor a good thing? Is this a good trade up.
