Just made that exact comment when I saw it on BROL!

You're dragging the chain Rhubarb, what's up-are you too law abiding or are the plod in your area suffering from complete lack of curiosity??

Had another kerbside chat on my night ride on Wednesday, I did go through a yellow light as I turned left-as I explained "I was worried the car behind me (the police) would run over me if I stopped, thought it was safer to go through"!!

I am generally law abiding, but everyone here who has been pulled up was law abiding at the time too.

I think Nitramluap has paved the way for me riding around the western suburbs for 18 months before I got mine. I think word has spread that its all ok. Your "incidents" have been on the northside.

The closest I have gotten was coming in on Sylvan Rd one morning where a cop was operating his radar gun in the 40km/hr zone outside the primary school. I was riding in the middle of lane (not in the car door bike lane) doing exactly 40km/hr. I saw him do a double take, then aim the radar straight at me. I could see he was laughing at the time, so as I passed I yelled out "all good here officer", and he responded "only just"

I'm guessing I have been spotted about 20 - 30 times by police over the past 9 months, when they have had the opportunity to pull me over if they wanted but never have. I think because I wear a helmet when not using the hood, I'm probably less attention attracting in that regard too.

Over and above all that Terry, lets face it, you are a dodgy looking character ...

There are so many bad drivers, unroadworthy cars, but speed kills so just setup a speed trap and eat donuts and drink coffee all day while working hard !!! Got to love Victorian Policing policies.....

Still yet to have the Rotovelo pulled over here in Sydney, though I have been "paced" a few times, either directly behind or on dual carriageway.
but I think that once they determine that I look like I'm pedalling, I'm left alone.

Get a few sometimes have a sticky if they are down at the donut van when I call in.

Wow !!!

I'm going to have to look this guy up, given he lives somewhere very close to me (western suburbs of Brisbane). I pretty sure it will be him that I've seen him a number of times on his old F-40, but I haven't seen him since I've had my velo.

That thing must be awesomely fast on a flat open road. I will be interested to know how he goes in a decent cross wind at speed though

+1, if I bought one of those it would have to be made of the same stuff as the Rotovelo to allow for the 'unbalanced' nature of the rider

Its a guy from Sweden in a mass participation event/race, riding a Milan SL. Now perhaps its a language and age gap thing, but to me this guy comes across as a touch arrogant, and verges on reckless in a few situations. However, if you can get beyond that, he is seriously FAST !!!!

He pushes into the 90s on a couple of occasions, with a claimed top of 99.7km/hr (GPS says ONLY 97 !!!). He averaged 50.7km/h over the 160km course.

At the start of the event he does a massive downhill wrong side of the road overtake of the entire field and pushes the pace car at the front up to mid 80s !!!

You can see the hard suspension of the Milan SL at play too. At one point he hits a pothole which he says makes his head hit the roof of his hood and cuts his nose

We had a Geelong Cycle Safety forum today and everyone loved the Mango and I was interviewed on Pulse FM local radio.....

All the usual questions, what is it ? Why ride one ? How fast ? How expensive ?

Lots of very open minded people there and everyone took photos of the Mango and had questions and wanted to know more.....

There was also a sustainability event on, so lots of alternative people, lots of veggie growing, bottle gardens, great cargo bikes wafting around ! No aquaponics Burnt ! I am going to be interviewed on that subject too in the near future !

On my return from my ride yesterday, I notice a crack from the foot hole about 50mm long, it has split the fibreglass as well.

A complete novice with fibreglass repairs-today I have put some fibreglass sheet in over the offending areas, tomorrow I will gelcoat over the cracks and hope for the best. Fortunately it is not in a easy to see spot!

I would not feel confident riding that in Perth in summer. I'd be blown off the path with the sou westerly we get here.
Mango for me, hoping I can get one ordered Jan/Feb next year
