Does the TriSled come with a rudder option? Gives Bay rides a whole new meaning! :)

Here's a ride report from an Audax Midnight Century ride I did in November 2016 in my Mango with another Mango pilot.

Looked like fun Terry.
Beyond my capabilities these days though.
That's the trouble with being closer to 80 than to 70. :D
Did you need an extra battery for the lights?
Don't think I'd have liked to be in the 80kmh range in my Mango as it becomes almost uncontrollable at around 50kmh down hill.

Hi John, the battery lasted the ride time of 7.5 hours with the headlight on for 4.5 hours. it still had charge left. It is the original battery, so doing pretty well really.

I have a spare battery but still haven't used it yet, perhaps I should start cycling both of them.

At 70-80kph, it was controllable, but required 100% attention!

Thanks Terry.
That's quite a good battery life for sure.
You would have charged your batteries more often than me so certainly is a good life span.

I usually charge mine when the horn ceases to work. Quick blip test.
I recall being told you had done a steering mod. Think Ben mentioned it. Mine is still as original and was always not quite right for some reason.

I was thinking of doing the steering mod, but I haven't as yet.

I believe Bartek in Perth has done it and could advise if it makes a difference.

Thanks Terry. I'll email him and see what he can tell me.
I did see a kit to do the job mentioned a while back but can't
recall where I saw it.

I've recently received my velogical dynamo and forumslader buffer battery system. Got a nice B&M iq-x and taillight, just configuring an indicator system and then fit the whole lot and I'll feel a lot more comfortable in my Rotovelo!!

I'll be interested to see your report on how well the dynamo works.

I was going to get a Velologic but the GT20 has oval tubes and they said their brackets won't fit. So I got a sunup ecodyn spoke dynamo instead. It is heavy but on a trike does that matter? Simple to fit and does the job.

Apologies for the mediaeval reply speed. Unfortunately I've barely ridden the velo with it fitted, but I did get it on there for a few test rides and it worked well. The battery system that I have is rather complicated though and I couldn't recommend that part for anyone but the most nerdy tech head (speaking German would help alot). I'm going to start riding it a bit more again and will see how it goes. I plan on printing a more robust 3D printed mount soon too.

Couple of Velos doing well in the Trans Am Bike Race.
Marcel Graber is currently leading and Dave Lewis in 3rd position.

Quite a lot of discussion in Velo section on BROL

Looks like a Velo won the Trans AM Bike Race - by over 100 miles it would seem. And a Velo looks like being 3rd. Wow. And it's a Self-Supported event. Would like to see how much gear he carried on his Velo.

" Would like to see how much gear he carried on his Velo."

Well, I answered my own question. Here's a video taken at a bike shop following repairs. Doesn't look like he has stuff strapped to the outside.

Yes. Both he and the second place were well ahead of the record too
Marcel Gruber romped it in. Would have been faster but I believe he had a problem that slowed him down.
Second place to Peter Anderson on a diamond frame.
Dave Lewis in the other velo looks like he may end up 4th. He apparently has an Achilles problem that is causing him trouble. I do hope he finishes.
From what I read Gruber's velo was specially built for him and weighed in at around 12kg if I recall correctly. My velo by comparison is 27.5 kg.
I saw quite a bit of whinging that the velo isn't a bike and shouldn't be counted or a new category is needed etc etc.

Will be interesting to see what the future hold in that regard.

Just found this video. The bloke tries to meet up with Marcel Graber in his velo and attempts to interview him while riding his own bike, but unfortunately the Velo comes to a downhill straight and leave the DF rider in his dust. (He eventually catches him at about 1:15 into the video. But not for long.)

If they don't want velos to win, pick a route with more hills, although at 12 kg, he's not going to be at much of a disadvantage

They did pick a hilly route. It went up and over the Rocky Mountains first, and finished with constant grades up to 20% through the Appalachians. Unfortunately, they connected these 2 via the plains of Kansas, where Marcel did a 603km day at 44.7km/h avg. Marcel actually crested the peak of the Rocky Mountains first, blasted across the plains, then struggled, but actually held his ground through Kentucky and Virginia, to win by about 14 hours, and take a day off the previous race record. Marcel velo was actually more like 18 kgs, plus spares and luggage.

went to look this afternoon at the tracker and judged it just right to see Dave Lewis arrive in 4th place in his velo.
A sterling effort as he was nursing an achilles injury. There was quite a "hill" to overcome too. Guess it wasn't called Vesuvius for nothing.
