Who was that in the Mango in a bunch with a couple of high recumbents near Redcliffe this morning? I was heading in the other direction with the Brisbane Tweed Ride group, I would have loved to turn round and get a better look but bacon and eggs were calling haha .

Years ago I lusted after a Leitra. I was keen on Cab Bike too.

I think the Mangos and Quests or similar are probably much better.

Got to admire Carl Georg Rassmussen he is no chicken but still building and riding.

That would have been me on the monthly Brisbane Cyclist Recumbent Group ride- we had already done the bacon and eggs bit! Noticed you guys on the bridge-looking very swish! Hope you had a great day-we did!

In the second photo in that Eurotour article the small guy third from the right is I think Carl Georg.
I wonder if there is any updating on the ride? Might go as Google.
Never happen but I'd really like to be involved in that ride or one similar.

Found out yesterday that one of the owners of Tindo Solar (Andrew) has a very red Sunrider with electric assist. Damn thing weighs just over 40kg and it has a 2kW hubmotor. Not exactly street legal, but it's only illegal if you get caught right? Either way, the motor is in need of repair so it now complies with ARR.

Add that one to the list.

The advantage of the Leitra is that the cab tilts forward for easy access. This is a big influencer in how people perceive these machines, especially the frailer people in our society.

What a site seeing the field take off at the start !!!

Great to see so many girls too. What a great team sport all round. I'd love to participate - not that I'm any sort of athlete, but riding a velomobile low and fast like that is really good fun. Ripping through tight turns etc at speed is great. I have a great set of those traffic calming s-bends (4 in the space of a few hundred metres) just near my house. I love the way that I can take the corners at 40 and leave the cars for dead

That was a great vid. You can see the kids are really into it and there is a great deal of excitement.
Now why wasn't there something like that when we were kids?
The video was a great effort to and I suspect it was doe by the schools too.
I think I must be getting old. Some of the teachers looked very young. Hardly older than the students it seemed.

The event is sponsored by UniSA. The video is organised through UniSA and probably edited in their media labs.

21-22 Sept could require a visit out to the Bridge to have a bit of a look.

It's funny to see that a team with a world record holder didn't come in first (Trisled). I guess a superstar team is better than a team of superstars.

It's also worthwhile to note that the Trump Trikes are FWD, therefore can theoretically corner faster on these tracks.

I wasn't aware the trikes were FWD. That is an interesting idea.
I always enjoy watching the vids of the event.

I think a school here had a team some years ago but the distance and consequent expense meant they didn't continue.
It's a pity we can't get something going over here and some sponsorship to help it along.

I stand corrected on the R&R production.

Last year's Trump trike was FWD and was commented that it was heavy. I did note that they have been asked and have produced a RWD trike for Platt Racing. It will be interesting to see whether anyone develops a tilting trike (aka Peter Heale's Lizard style) suitable for this race. The mounting of the body and required frames will be interesting indeed (although I think I've had an idea on that. Cornering would be a lot quicker as the trike is less inclined to tip.

Current racing rules prohibit tilting trikes.

Platt/Trump will have a new FWD/3WS trike at Murray Bridge in a few weeks, it's just that Platt had a TriSled Kestrel body kicking around in the garage which they thought they ought to use, so had a conventional chassis fitted to it basically as a prototype test hack. Clearly it works!

Platt Racing and my team are both based on the Mornington Peninsula just out of Melbourne, so we spend a lot of time together on the training track. Not much goes un-noticed.

This was most likely conducted during an organised race event too.

Not quite a Velo but more practical than the two pedal cars.
Typical blog always back to front to my way of thinking. Makes them awkward to read. Plenty of pics and some vid.

The Elf was a kickstarter project that took off. Probably not legal here. Then again I was reading on Endless Sphere about a guy in South Aus with 6KW electric on his commuter MTB so he can keep up with traffic.
