I have just purchased my first "bent" secondhand all is good but the tires are old. They hold pressure but the side walls are very brittle. i need to source new tires. Front is 16 x 1 3/4 (Bromton fork) and the rear is 20 x 1 3/4. Advice and suppliers would be appreciated. The bike is a "Lizard" from flying furniture.com
I am amazed now fast this thing is and am looking forward to pushing it faster with better rubber. It has tiny 155cranks which i believe is normal but i am spinning out in top gear with a 48 tooth chain ring (the biggest i could get at my LBS for five arm spider MTB crank set) I am keen to hear advice on getting more (low cost) performance.
Spec LX 21 speed, no name v brakes, no name hubs, sun rims and the longest chain i have ever seen! and a very happy convert

Contact Alex at Ness for suitable Schwalbe tyres in those sizes.
A 359 Kojak and 451 Durano would be a good choice.

If you're looking for a better pace then the Schwalbe Kojak tyres are good bang for buck. For you front I would recommend as wide as you can because of better grip and comfort. You don't want your handling compromised with hard, high pressure front tyres.
Chainreaction is a good source for very reasonably prices Tyres if you don't mind waiting for the shipping. Unfortunately they don't have suitable 16 in sizes. Its also their winter and cycling stocks run down. Usually they are good. If its bad then try a good Schwalbe stockist or get in touch with Flyingfurniture. Or Alex at NessBikes.

Hi Poit,
Can't keep a good red Lizard down.
Should that have been 349 or perhaps 355? I'd not heard of 359.
We have 355 on our trikes so would be handy if Alec has that size. Nothing like it here . We'l need new ones soon.
I managed to get Kojaks for the rear to replace the Comp Pools. A bit narrower but so far no problem.

Schwalbe make Kojaks in 349, 355, and 369. Check out the Schwalbe web site: http://www.schwalbe.com/gbl/en/startseite/ for sizing and models. the 2012 catalogue is available electronically, or you can search online by tyre size. Bike Box the Aust importer is currently switching to 2012 stock - although all those kojak sizes were previously available so hopefully they still are. Cheers Alex

Yep 349 on the front 16 x 1&3/8".
There are: Schwlabe Kojaks & Stelvios, Primo Comets and a few others in that size.
