Recumbents and all feet forward machines

Hi,
Yesterday, I had a great loop ride. Leigh will probably know the route -Boambee East - Hoys Road - Bucca Road - Central Bucca Rd - Bruxner Park - Boambee East. All up 60km on the low racer.
From the top of Bruxner Park it is a thrilling 4-5 km downhill twisty ride. There were 9 of us (all dfs apart from me) and we met up with another 3 df riders doing their training - 1 man, 2 women. The man is a very competitive guy and ride in the Cat A group during our Saturday community ride. He was a pace rider when he was younger. Everyone let them set off first then we followed. Because I could built up speed relatively quickly, I soon caught up with his 2 female counterparts and passed them when it was safe to do so. I gave chase at the guy in front and passed him with ease. He was going fast tucked in the aero position. I was faster on my LR and I think I gave him a shock that I was pulling away from him. He didn't say a word to me at the foothill and just continue on his ride without waiting for his friends. So am I rude to pass him?

Hi,
That's right. I don't care. I actually felt good that I smoked him. When I told the other riders in my group that I overtaken him they burst into laughter.

Sounds like it was a training ride which in essence is still competion, you smoked him fair and square, don't sweat it. It's not like you gave him the bird as you passed him....................did you?

I don't think it was rude, but I also don't think you can say you smoked him unless he was aware that you were both racing. If he was doing serious, disciplined training, he would have been keeping within a set heart rate range, no matter what he saw you doing.
Sounds like you had fun in any case.
Cheers,
Graeme

Those "A" boys take great pride in 'smoking' anyone in front of them...
seems only fun that now and then someone dose it back to them...
Go for it I say!!

No way! so long as you passed when it was safe to do so, nothing wrong with that. If anything I think it would be rude of him to expect you to be held up just so as to not hurt his ego.... nothing stopping him from upgrading to a lowracer if he wants to keep up

I s'pose the smokee always feels a bit miffed, 'specially if they've got the raceface on. Df'ers should just wait fer the next hill.
It's only rude if you smoke 'em while you're on a Giant
