Great day in the Mango.... Started off as a regular 60km ride and ended up as a 105km ride....
Checked tyre pressures and they were low....25psi (that's why it was so hard yesterday).... Whacked they upto 90psi and the Mango was flying !!
Dropped into Breamlee and took this photo... Met a great family (3 generations) and they instantly understood the Mango.... I then spotted the many PV panels, solar hot water and rainwater tanks.... They understand the need for alternatives... I have some new friends !!
Saw some great bird life.... Maggies taking on a falcon.... Great stuff

Mango looks like it was enjoying the day too.
It's amazing what difference tire pressure makes.
I wonder what different tires might do to.
I had a Big Apple on the rear originally then They sent a Swalbe Marathon Greenguard (e Bike Ready) tire with the Risse shock as the BA was likely to rub.
I'm sure that Marathon is no where near as fast as the BA. Bomb proof though.
What are you lot using front and rear? I still have Kojaks on the front and will for a while as I have several of them.

I'm running Kojaks front and just gone back to a Big Apple rear after wearing out a M Racer-the BA gives a nicer ride, but not so sure about its puncture resistance. Not one puncture on the M Racer.

Had a ball and the Scorpion FS26 ran so smoothly the whole way. Stayed with the DF bikes easily but when we got to Sydney and the constant hills I was gone, my legs had nothing in them and the other riders left me for dead.

You might have been left on the hills but I'll bet you had less aches and pains than the DF guys at the end of the ride.
Great stuff gretaboy. Good to see you back out riding.

Must get some to try. Are you looking at using them all round? I'd guess 40x406 frontand 44 or 50 o the rear would be the go.Bartek wrote:http://www.schwalbetires.com/bike_tires/bmx/shredda" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Riggsbie wrote:I still have my original BA on the rear.....looks a bit tired now but I'll wait until I see the blue safeguard material....

Have found I can punch my baby upto 37.4 km/h on the flat with no assist... And maintain for a few K... What sort of speeds do you guys get on the flat (average commute speed is 25.9 km/h
And I don't know
Ride casual... Not to casual
They might snap out it's comfortable !!

We also rode back, so all up i did 180k's for the day, my longest ever ride. What made it memorable was the heat..my garmin was saying 45 degrees at one stage, but overall i dont think it got over 35.
The best bit..apart from some soreness in the legs not one part of my body was hurting...just got to love the benefits of a recumbent

Cheers Chong....I had an absolute ball doing it..the heat was an issue but just took our timeLow Racer wrote:That's quite an achievement Stuart. 180km would be a struggle for me on 2 wheels, mind alone the extra wheel of a trike.
Great effort.
Next aim is the Sydney to Newcastle overnight ride..176k then the ride home 45k lol

on the trike you do feel a bit like a prawn on a barbie when it gets hot. I've found that wearing white, at least for jersey and arms, makes a real difference.

The two other trike riders i was with were well setup for the sun compared to me...i learnt a bit that ride, chuckchunder wrote:Excellent effort greta!

They had these nice wide brim adjustable peaks for the helmets, using velcro they can move the peak to whichever side the sun is coming from. They also had caps with removable flaps for the neck and the side of the faces which they wore under the helmets.
Both had sun leggings, one was white the other black. In their getup they looked like dorks but all that mattered was that they were protected from the sun.
I will certainly be dropping some coin on similar gear soon
