freighting recumbent trike

Postby gudism » Sat Feb 01, 2014 1:50 pm

Hi
Does anyone have experience in freighting a recumbent bike?
I may be purchasing a 2nd hand one and wondering what other peoples experiences have been in freighting interstate.
For instance will it need to be dismantled and boxed? Does anyone specialise in doing bikes? Are some better/cheaper than others
Cheers for any info
Craig

I suspect dismantled and boxed would be required unless you can find a truckie needing a back fill who is willing to take it. Used to be easy enough to do back in the day but getting harder and harder to find people willing to take odd shaped things.

You could try a motorcycle transporter like Bikes Only :)

Misread the title, I was looking for a frightening recumbent trike. BOO!

I shipped my GT5 trike from Geelong to its new owner in Adelaide using "Fastway Couriers" - I had to drop it at the depot....

The GT5 folds, and I removed all three wheels and just made up a box....I think it cost around $80 but the buyer covered the cost....he even sent some extra cash as I did such a good packing job.....
