Recumbents and all feet forward machines

The red plastic flag that was attached to the flexi pole that originally came with my trike eventually tore and broke off.
I purchased a safety vest from Bunnings for $10 and my wife kindly cut and sewed it up into a flag with reflective strip on it to my design.
If you know how to use a pair of scissors and as well as needle and thread (or better still a sewing machine) then you can make your own unique flag.
Cool flags - well, Purple Sky Flags were probably the coolest but seem to have closed down. This shop has a few but it's uncertain that they'll ship here - Rocky Mountain Recumbent
Also, not something cyclists would be likely to think of but it would be worthwhile looking at kayak accessories such as this kayak safety kit from Railblaza. There are quite a few different manufacturers with similar products on offer, some quite innovative by cycling standards.

Angletech and Hostel Shoppe will ship to Australia. Hostel Shoppe may burn you but on the postage ... no advance notice of the cost so play with care.
Locally Minewhips have flags .... Google is your friend.
This one has a light in it.

Inasmuch as a recumbent flag can ever be cool, I reckon this would be a good bet if not for the black background .
When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments- Elizabeth West.
Fixed that for you. Imagine the skull & cross bones in reflective tape & you are good to go
Except for the nerdy flag bit that's a light sabre! Then the force will be with you.
bychosis (bahy-koh-sis): A mental disorder of delusions indicating impaired contact with a reality of no bicycles.
I use two flags because Melbourne drivers are nuts.
The first is the normal orange plastic flag with an old blue pennant directly under it. Then on the other side I use only the top half of a normal orange flag. My reasoning is the differing heights will give a wider view line for drivers. As to the extra drag I'd prefer to a little slower but seen. The GT5 s not much of a racer anyway.
most of the trike flags seem a tad $$$'y .... I just got a regular bike flag (maybe $10) and snipped a balinese flag down to size ($6) so it has a mane that runs up the flag pole and a little tail bit to flap in the breeze. Don't know if it fulfills your "cool" criteria but it is definitely a lot more visible than the puny one that came with the ice trike.
GO!! Run!!! GAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate all your advice, leaning to the one with lights, the mane of flags sounds my idea of individual *cool* as well. As for speed, life is a rush, my trike is for cruising and camping and company, Julesa
Works for me so far - less than $10 on fleabay & 10 min with a sewing machine. Will see how long it lasts
