Record Breaking Recumbent in Museum

Postby Aushiker » Tue Apr 15, 2014 8:21 pm

Canberra cyclist Peter Heal rode this Velokraft carbon fibre recumbent bike when he set two of the most contested solo distance cycling records in Australia.

In 2009, Heal pedalled this bike from Fremantle to Sydney in 11 days, 17 hours and eight minutes, breaking the record for a solo and unsupported crossing of continent by more than two days. The next year, Heal covered around 15,000 kilometres on the same machine, cycling alone around Australia in 48 days, 23 hours and 37 minutes, again lowering the previous record by approximately two days.

Seen that in the flesh Andrew.
It was parked in our kitchen overnight.
Looks a bit more polished up in the picture.
Poit's ride was quite an event and we enjoyed following him on the blog and Spot tracker.

Would love to see that, pity i'm not in Canberra. There doesn't seem to be any info about where else it will be going around Australia yet either!
