Up in rim size

Postby njg02 » Thu Feb 08, 2018 8:52 pm

Thinking of going 700c from 26". What would be a good size comfortable tyre? Current 26" tyres are 32 (AT) 100psi and the roads at Rocky rattle my teeth.
Bike is a TW Bent.
Thanks Neil

I run a 26 x 2.0 tyre on the rear of my trike with about 35psi. Much more comfortable than the original 1.5" at 80psi.

Cheers

I'd be tempted to try lower pressure in your current tyre, or a different larger tyre as OB suggests.

Upping to 700c rims could give issues with brake alignment (or do you have discs?) and clearance with the frame - I'm not familiar with the TW bent but you could wind up with needing a smaller tyre to make it fit!

I used to run Continental 26" Sport Contacts 44mm at 40 - 50 psi. Worked for me.

Thanks guys. 700c will fit and I have discs. Interesting info in regards to wider tyres.
