London - Edinburgh - London 2009
Postby casual_cyclist » Wed Jul 29, 2009 2:09 pm
The only source I have found is http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23lel which by its nature is a bit haphazard.
Sounds like the weather is terrible! Looks like they have already extended the finish time by 2 hours?
There are some forumites on the ride. I hope they are ok.
If you have any news, could you please let us know?
Cheers
Greg

798km-wed morning about 20 riders stopped, 33 missing.
754km chaos! Severe weather has wrecked field tue night.
Last night was worst weather ever. Biblical rain + raging headwind. Got in at 23.15. Many people hypothermic. I was ok.
Abandoned #lel yesterday after alston wind too strong 4 me
As a few of you know I'm back having dnf'd. Feeling better now. Much respect and support to the #lel ers continuing in this foul weather.
First riders arrived in London in the small hours this morning after setting out Sunday morning, despite the atrocious weather

I don't recognise any Aussies in the list of DNFs.

11:24 AM Jul 28th, Nick Dale, Judith Swallow and John Evans left Eskdal (800km) about an hour ago. Going well. #lel http://myloc.me/eR1O
about 2 hours ago, I'm at Thorne waiting for Martin to arrive. 300 to the finish. Rain has stopped. 3 WAs have just left with 2 ahead and 1 finished. #lel
Go Aussies!

I rode most of the 2008 GSR with Nick and Judith, a powerful pair of riders.
Barry Stephenson has pulled out but I don't recognise any other Aussie names in the DNF list.

Looks like training in a WA winter has worked out well for a British summer!
