Riding in France

Postby shinna » Thu Jul 03, 2008 12:44 am

I am travelling through France, Switzerland and Italy soon and am upgrading my bike for the trip - either a Pinarello or Wilier. I am thinking of either buying on line and having it shipped to here before travelling or buying it in France.

Any suggestions as to any good bike stores in Paris or Nice, and is it any cheaper to buy over there? Also, any suggestions for good online stores that ship fast and reliably?

It's only a matter of time before Toolonglegs sees this post. He just moved from Sydney to Nice so he should know the LBSs by now ;-).

...moved to Lyon, but I haven't been into a bike shop yet...free postage on all orders from the UK so haven't needed to yet.Although I do need new cleats,2500k's a month will do that  .
BTW nothing is cheap in France...unleaded is equivilant to $2.50 per litre so it gives you an idea of the cost of living!.

Is there any import duty charged on orders from the UK? I have read that VAT applies throughout Europe.
