I will be crowded onto canal boats with a couple of dozen friends in the first week of September. It appears that one woman and mopi are about all that have ridden bikes in decades. We will be riding hired three speed dutch bikes.
Places high on the list of wanna-rides include:
- Cycle to Noyers from Argentenay (28km round trip. This is the one that we absolutely do not want to miss.)
- Cycle to Chablis from Tonnerre (34km round trip)
- Cycle to Beugnon from St Florentin (18km round trip)
Bearing in mind that the trip is not a cycling holiday, bikes are just the way that we get around, I would also welcome any suggestions of places-not-to-be-missed within our limited capability along the whole stretch between Mont St Bard and Joigny. Towns along that stretch include:
- Montbard
- Fontenay
- Buffon
- Rougemont
- Cry sur Armançon
- Ravieres
- Ancy le Franc
- Ancy le Libre
- Tanlay
- Tonnerre
- Flogny la Chapelle
- Saint Florentin
- Brienon
- Laroche Migennes
- Joigny
Really useful would be any comparison to slopes and climbs that we see around Perth metro.
Any advice on the severity of climbs and so forth would be gratefully considered, as will any ride suggestions. We understand that the region is described as "rolling hills".
