Sweet as!
The Tour Aotearoa Official Guides paper editions have sold out but are still available as PDF or Kindle editions. So you can go out and do some training.
There have been some minor route changes in the north of the mainland to avoid the heavy traffic conditions resulting from the closure of SH1 by the Kaikoura earthquake.

There will be a new guide coming out as there are changes to the route...
Quote from email from Jonathan
"I’ve spent the last month travelling around the country talking with New Zealand Cycle Trail groups about their future plans, and as a result there will be some changes to the Tour Aotearoa route later in the year.
Any changes to the route will be:
· posted on Facebook,
· included in a revised edition of the Official Tour Aotearoa Guide Books, and gpx files will be revised"

Some good info in there... I am taking notes on shop stops and other bits and pieces that others note.
One thing I have picked up is how many people were dehydrated on day 1... underestimating riding with no shade and no water supply.
I work at the base of Mt Eden and if I get to work early do repeats until shower time, saw a couple of loaded bikes about the time the riders were coming through Auckland but they were gone when I got back down.

Even along the road up towards Cape Reinga there's next to no water.
