that looks a nice sleek seat but I'm looking for a cruiser type old school banana seat or something like that.

that's a great looking seat, good quality by the looks. I'm quite certain though that I would like to get a banana seat and I found a place online in AU that has some - http://goeasyonline.cart.net.au/cat/2020013.html - that page has quite a few in various prices.

Can someone tell me if these would go on a mountain bike seat post?

Also what would the difference be between a $35 seat compared to a $50 one? There is little info on the seats on the pages, only a basic photo so I don't want to order the wrong thing.

By the look at least one of them it appears they need to work with a seatpost clamp and therefore a basic seatpost. Moruya Bicycles has some called "Saddle Pillar Steel" which should work. It would be safer to buy the banana seat first.

As a side note, I don't remember any of these banana seats being really comfortable.
