Hi all its been some time since Ive been here still in the build of a couple of low riders and a rat dragster.

but the latest thing im into is Drift trikes. a friend and i are starting a crew up here in South Australia and wondering if any one else is interested.

this is just a mok up of a Rat Drifter Im working on atm

at the moment its purly going to be down hill but Im also working on a free wheel type hub using a three speed hub so i can add a old school shifter and cranks

Brad at the Cycle Hub Morphett Vale is building them too.
They are using gokart wheels with pvc tube for tread!

yep thats the plan Ill be building a full custom with front free wheel and the cart wheels on the back with PE pipe for tread

I love these sliders!
I bought one for my son when Kmart had them out for $79. I really should have gotten a second one for me.
I need to find a nice downhill run somewhere. Was thinking of heading out to the new Blakes Crossing estate at Blakeview as it looks like it could be hilly.

Im 34 my mate who put me onto it is 30 another guy getting into it is 22 so yeah we are starting to get a crew together there is about 5 or 6 of use now.

How does your daughter feel about you turning her bike into a drift trike?

This is one off two 16" Girls dragster I have and I bought her a new Huffy bella BMX the other 16" girls frame is being transformed into a low-rider. She's more piss'd at me for pulling appart the Huffy GM for parts. I promest her ill put it back together soon once i get my other sliders

yeah it pretty cool only problem is tracktion!! them GM wheels wont get you up a hill you would just sit there spinning them, I was thinking of bolting one to the front wheel some how ??

that looks unreal. Whats the front hub set up. How do the cranks attach?

Try it on two wheels though. It's mad.

The freewheeling axle runs 2 bearings which the end of the forks bolt around.
From memory, the axle is grooved in a way that the cranks cannot turn around on the axle.
Not sure if that all makes sense, but I can't find my manual to show a more detailed view.

So you have to buy a special wheel or hub and lace it onto a rim?

Is it like a unicycle wheel?

I think unicycles are different in that they are not a freewheeling hub i.e you can peddle backwards as well as forwards, whereas the wheel on the Huffy Slider on lets you peddle forwards.
Not sure if you could contact Huffy and order the wheel as a spare part. Even if you could, you need the front forks that are designed to accept that wheel.
Toys R us have the complete Slider out at the moment for $149. I am in two minds whether to get myself one. Still kicking myself that I didn't get another one from Kmart a few months back for $79!

Oh of course. Like a Green machine but more sturdy? I haven't seen them. I'll have to spend more time at Kmart

The Green Machines used a rear steer type setup, whereas the Huffy Slider steers like a traditional bike.
Kmart dont stock these at the moment and the chances of seeing one in the flesh at Toys R Us is rare as they sell out so quick.

keep an eye out at markets and hard rubbish nights Ive scored a hot wheels slider and F1 slider both are like green machiens for free at hard rubbish,
and a GM at a market for $30 RRP toys are us $150 to 200
The F1 has a free wheel 20" three spocked tuff which i will swap over with the original huffy front wheel as iv had reports of the spocked steel wheels failing.

its not atm still have to get it welded Im probably going to get a huffy sooner or later

The boys I know are running front go kart wheels on the rear with pvc tube for tread. Let the tyre down, cram the PVC on then blow the tyre back up! Years of drifting without changing tyres.

Saw a hot wheels in a salvage yard in the Adelaide hills yesterday. maybe $10 or $20?

Spotted a BARBIE slider at Kmart yesterday! tiny but I think it was cool....

any 1 got any spare back tyers or go kart wheels i could raz or buy snaped mine doin a 2 wheel lean to slid looked kool even when the wheel snaped off
