I built another bike for the annual Rat Rod Bikes Build Off.

Have a look if you've got a few minutes spare. http://www.ratrodbikes.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=68

Voting just started today..... I don't stand a chance of winning, but am hoping for a Top 10 finish (I finished 6th last year)......not really bothered about where I finish though, as I've got a cool bike out of it.

Started out as a Micargi and I built a springer front end for it, used a vintage style microphone for the tail light, as well as a whole heap of other stuff.

Some build info:

Micargi frame
SunRims Double Wide rims
NOS Sachs front hub
Velosteel coaster hub
3G Boa-G tires with logos removed
Recovered WCC seat
3 piece Redline crank with Truvativ BB adaptor
2 KMC Kool chains.....it's long!!
Custom built springer fork.......yes folks, it works :D
Wald bars cut in half
Bargain bin grips and pedals
Austin "Flying A" hood ornament with green LED lighting
LED converted vintage headlight
Vintage style microphone tail light

If you reckon that's only top ten worthy Larren, then the other nine must be really special. The design and fabrication on that front end is admirable.

Thanks, Mulger bill............I spent a lot of thinking and fabrication time on the front end.

As far as the voting goes, I think to place high in the build off, you pretty much have to start with a vintage American frame. Coming from that part of the world and having plenty of "friends" to vote for you doesn't go astray either  . This is the 4th build off I've been in on Rat Rod Bikes, and probably have another one left in me......it gives me a deadline to finish by and I stop procrastinating for a while.

Is that the bonnet ornament off an Austin A40 between the chainstays?

+ the very large number of your choice.

Maybe I'm wrong but more than one of those bikes looked to be of the "Throw large amounts of cash at a pro builder" skool.
Your scoot takes gold in my book Larren.

Yes RK, that is an old Austin ornament 8)

Yep, as Mulger bill said, it's an Austin A40 hood ornament.

Thanks so much for the kind words, guys :D

Another awesome build mate, and congrats on the placement. I reckon it was one of the bigger and more competitive fields so 11th is pretty damn commendable.
