Micargi Mustang GTS - From Fixie to something that can live up to the name

Postby Steve Zissou » Mon Sep 25, 2017 12:03 pm

Heyoh!

I scored an almost brand new Micargi Mustang GTS through Facebook last week for next to nothing, and I'm looking to upgrade it from fixie to a properly geared cruiser.

I live in St Kilda, so the fixie's good for a summer cruise along the beach, but I also want something that I can take up the hill to get out and along the river.

Anybody have any advice on a good upgrade to the crankset and corresponding cassettes that might pair well with it? I know that they sell it with a Shimano Nexus 3-speed, but I'm keen for a discussion before I order online and turn my loungeroom into a bike shop (won't my partner be happy!).

I've been out of the bike building and repair game for 18 years. lol

She's an absolute beauty!

Just curious as to which way you went with this bike.
