World's largest individually timed cycle race

Postby justD » Fri Mar 06, 2009 8:40 pm

On Sunday I'm taking part in my first ever cycling event, Loop The Lake.

Back in South Africa, my brother-in-law is taking part in the Cape Argus.

Wikipedia says: "With approximately 40,000 cyclists taking part, it is the world's largest individually timed cycle race, and is the first event outside Europe to be included in the International Cycling Union's Golden Bike Series."

I'm worried about riding with 1,300 people in Loop The Lake, but can you imagine 40,000!!!

Good luck to everyone in both races.

Dirk
